Show 16 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, 0 Utah Thursday, July 29, 1976 . rraEtroi . cL. Bunlng Boar Rivor Correspondent says thanks for successful July 24th by Karen Christensen I would like to start out right niow thanking all of those people who made our 24th celebration a big success ( Neil Nelson did a fine job getting the celebration organized. He has also asked me to publicly thank all those who helped him during this time. By the time everything was over I think everyone was pooped! The breakfast was a good beginning. Someone rang the boil at tiie Bear River Elemen- tary to mark the holiday it added a great deal to the festivities! The parade had so many cut floats, bikes, etc. that I was glad that I wasn't a judge! I believe it was announced that there wre 97 babies in the baby contest, but it ran as smooth as silk! , There sure were some beautiful babies from all over! The program was one of the best that was ever held in our town. The kids (young and old alike) fun with the races, boxing, and ball games! All in all it was such a big success that it will be remembered for a long had real time! - Horse Show The horse show and rodeo are always a favorite part of the celebration. The club held the horse show and many wonderful trophies were awarded. Many people from town won belt buckles at the rodeo. I think that those sheep are glad that the day is over! It was great watching the town rally together to make it a great celebration! That really made it worth going for! ' It's really too bed that there are always some that are destructive though. I sat and watched big teen-ag- e boys tear 4-- H down the little kids floats.. When we went over to tell them to quit they just walked away as if it were a joke. The bad part of it was that some of their parents sat and watched them do it. After all the work that goes into one of those floats, its really to bad that someone has to tear them down like that. I ' mtfdidfr iflmt'th eydidnt meanto hurt anyone by doing it, but it just seemed like the wrong thing for them to do at the time. I dont think that they have the right to break that which is not theirs.
