Rev. John Lundblad, the pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Brigham City, will be in attendance at this convention together with Keith Opprecht, who will act as the lay delegate for the congregation. Together with pastors and delegates from the almost 250 congregations of the synod, coming together from five western states, they will consider questions of the budget of the synod for work of ministry and mission and will elect a new president for the synod. Dr. Carl Segerhammar, the present president, is retiring after 25 years of leadership work in the church. Dr. Segerhammar has frequently visited Holy Cross Church, the last time being in 1973 when Pastor Lundblad was installed of the as the minister congregation.
