Show Garland Gazette Willard Reports BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah 15 Thursday, January 16, 1975 Pinochle club meets by Flo Munson The Pinochle club met at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Wood Mrs. Lucetta Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bishop during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Odell Thompson of Napa, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Wood spent Tuesday visiting C. W. Wednesday Mrs. evening. Adams was a special guest. Prizes went to Mrs. Madge Homer, Mrs. Mildred Allred and Mrs. Vera Westergard. Light refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Nephi Westergard spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Brent Westergard in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thompson spent last weekend visiting their son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Neal Thompson and family in Delta. Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomas were Mr. and Mrs. Arch Hall of Connie Wood in Malad. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Ravsten in Logan Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ashby and family. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Carter along with Mr. and Mrs. Horace Garn of Brigham City, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Apgood of Salt Lake City were luncheon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Oleen Garn in P'ielding Tuesday. Ogden. Saturday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Marriott were Mr. and Mrs. Karl Marriott and family of Ogden. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Thompson visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anema and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin (Shorty) Germer in Ogden. They also visited Mrs. Catherine Limb at the McKay hospital. Mrs. Limb is recuperating follow ing major surgery. Holiday Vacation Returning from a holiday vacation are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Clark. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Reed Richins in St. David, Ariz.; toured in New Old Mexico Mexico, California. Enroute home were overnight guests of their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hone and family in Salt Lake City. Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glade Timothy were their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Max Flinders of son-in-la- son-in-la- Ogden. The Civic and Home Arts club held their meeting in the Community Center in the Garland Library Thursday evening with Mrs. Sharon Jensen and Mrs. Elsie Hill as Mr. and Mrs. Karl Starr of Tremonton gave an interesting and informative travelogue of their recent tour in Mexico. They also sang two duets in Spanish. Light refreshemtns were served. Mr. and Mrs. Ellery Hall are and visiting their daughter Mr. nd Mrs. Leonard Longhurst and family in Rexburg. Neal Wood and daughter Janet of Salt Lake City spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Wood. Mrs. Janies Shumway and family accompanied by Jim and I.ori Shumway of Logan, Steve Shumway and Kathy Lucero of Provo spent the weekend in Salt Lake City visiting Mrs. Mary Lindsay. They attended the basketball game with Westminster college vs. Western New Mexico college Friday evening and Westminster college vs. Adams State on Saturday of Colorado evening. Jeff Shumway, a student at Westminster was one of the participants. The Shumways also visited Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lindsay and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lindsay and family and Mr. and Mrs. Jones White and family. UTILE we reception hosted by the bride's parents will be held at Bowcutt Reception center in Tremonton. June Bronson, Pam Murray, Shellee Thomas and Gloria Munns will be the brides attendants. Doug Rhodes will perform the duties of best man. Chris Munns will be at the guest register. The young couple will make their home in Tremonton. They are both employed at Thiokol Corp. Visiting by Maude R. Harris Col. Byron Hall of Alexandria, Va. was the dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Hall Tuesday. He also visited with Arthur L. Gibbs. Col. Hall had taken his three daughters to Provo where they are attending BYU. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Tree and daughter, Tysha Marie left for their home in Portland, Ore., after visiting with Mrs. Tree's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester P. Neal. Mr. and Mrs. Tasman Gibbs of Moreland, Idaho were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Gibbs Sunday. Monday they attended funeral services for Mrs. Gibbs aunt, at Mrs. Sarah Barnard Brigham City. Mi. and Mrs. Virgil Harris returned to their home Saturday after a three-week- s vacation trip to the northwest. They were guests of their and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. LeeRoy Pettingill and family of Toppenish, Wash. The Pettingills and the Harris spent a weekend at Springfield, Ore., where they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Harris and family. They visited with relatives and friends at and Merida n, Wendell, Shoshone, Idaho. Visit Parents Marlene John of Laketown and Peggy Sue John of Logan visited Saturday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John. Regional Representative and Mrs. Devere Harris attended LDS conference at American Falls Stake Saturday and Sunday. They were Sunday dinner guests of President, and Mrs.' Raymond K. Briggs of American Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Hall e Didericksen of Grantsville, and Mrs. Larry Jaussi daughters Bonnie and Uraina of Corinne visited Mr. and Mrs. W. Lee Thompson Saturday. The occasion was Mrs. Thompsons birthday anniversary. Miss Linda Munns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shelley Munns of F.lwood will become the bride of Steven F. Burns in rites performed in the Logan LDS Temple Jan. 17. Steven is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomas of Garland and Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Burns of Bountiful. Mr. and Mrs. Moyle Knudsen visited in Bear River City Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thorpe and with Mrs. Ethel Hall. Mr. and Mrs. James E. John and visited with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Nelson of Perry Saturday. Farrell Mrs. Mr. and Williams of St. John, Mrs. Arnold Lamb and family of Plymouth were dinner guests of Mr and Mrs. James Uday and family Sunday. Hawkes is a specialist in the elementary school age childs problems. A question and answer period followed each film. Refreshments were served by Jolene Wood, Karen Holmes and Joan Christensen. Finish Training Our volunteer police force finished their training with the sheriff's office. For three weeks Brent Braegger, Ralph Dalton and Jess Holden did an eight-hou- r shift nightly. For this duty they were sworn in as Box Elder county deputies. Previous to this the men had been sworn in as Willard City Police officers. During their training each man rode with another deputy while learning correct police procedures and terminology. Since the completion of their training the men have been working shifts with the police car. The message here seems to be don't teach your kids to talk while speeding in Willard. Shawn Udy spent the weekend with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Williams of St. Deer Freeze When the headlights hit them, the deer freeze, and then the animals are the cause of an accident if not directly involved. It is not at all uncommon to see the carcass of at least one animal along side of the road during a week. The Fish and Game warden is responsible for these animals and he is the one to contact in the case of a dead deer on your property or along side the road. Mr. Dredge has served as Stake President and he and his wife, the former Vera Allen, formerly of Portage, have been serving as officiators at the Logan temple for several years.
