Benon Mrs. Wheatley conducted a short business meeting prior to the lesson presentation. Ray Finch gave an informative illustrated lecture on Changes in the Consumer Market. Mrs. Catherine Lish favored with two lovely solos from the Sound of Music. She was accompanied by Joyce Tucker at the piano. A delicious light luncheon was served. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Webb entertained at a New Years Eve party at their home. Dinner was served to Mr. and Mrs. James Archibald, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Bradshaw, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Crump, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Ellis, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wheatley, Mr. and Mrs. Don v Gibson, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kotter and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Norr. Games were played and a social enjoyed. Houseguests at the home of Dr. and Mrs. LaMar Harris during the New Year holidays were George Gilbert and son George of Las Vegas, Loren Nebeker of Salt Lake City. Leaving Saturday for their home in Las Vegas after spending the holidays visiting Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Lee, Mrs. Vernell Morrison and other friends and relatives in this area were Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Bourne and family. Thursday they were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hess and family in Clearfield. The occasion was Mrs. Bournes birthday anniversary. The I I Tremonton Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Francom during the holidays were Mr. and Mrs. Arlan Woodward and son Chris and daughter Rachel of North Hollywood, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Woolley and son Cabot and Mrs. Helen DeMoss of Ogden. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Gary Korth and family in Blackfoot and Mr. and Mrs. Nile Boyle and son Eric in Rexburg during the holidays was Mrs. Elva Korth. Dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Elva Korth on New Years Day were Mr. and Mrs. Gary Korth and family of Blackfoot and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Allen and family of Tremonton. Ted Chiquito, Joe Chiquito and Ernest Chiquito of Cuba, Mexico, visited their brother Glen Chiquito during the holidays. Glen makes his home with Mrs. Elva Korth. Dr. and Mrs. D. B. Green visited during the holidays with their and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Garrett and and family and their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Allen and family in Salt Lake son-in-la- son-in-la- City. Dr. and Mrs. D. B. Green attended a family dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Ellis in Salt Lake City during the holidays. See Rose Bowl Mrs. Marge Oyler and daughter Jeanine accompanied by Randy Zundel of West Fielding have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Oyler in the Los Angeles area during the holidays. They attended the Rose Bowl Parade and football game in Pasadena. - Club Meets The Lions Club met at the Lions Den Wednesday evening for their meeting. Dr. Darwin some attended dance by Flo Munson Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bourne entertained at a taco party at their home New Years Eve. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Wynn Zundel, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Bourne, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Bronson, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Udy, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Udy, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peck, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Potter and Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Bourne. Games and a social were enjoyed. Some of the couples attended the dances held in the Garland Stake Center and the Tremonton Stake Center they returned to the Bourne home for ice cream and cake. Mr. and Mrs. DeLoss Jensen accompanied by Mr. and Mrs.' Monty Ogden and family of Ogden spent New Years Eve visiting Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lowe and family in Grace, Idaho. Mrs. Mina Ward spent several days during the holidays visiting her son and Mr. and Mrs. daughter-in-laPaul Ward and family in Kaysville. She attended funeral services for her twin sister Mrs. Martha Petersen held in Riverton on Dec. 27.. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Bourne during the last week were Mrs. Vi Krantz of Midvale, John Farnsworth of Kaysville and Mrs. Clara Stayner of Brigham' City. . Family Party en- tertained at a family dinner party at their home New Years Day. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ward of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ward and family of Kaysville and Marilyn Ward of Ogden. The group also enjoyed a family dinner party at the Kenneth Ward home in Kaysville during the holidays. The small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brent MacFarlane was blessed by her father in Sacrament meeting in the Belmont Ward Sunday and given the name of Natae Following the meeting a dinner party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Macfarlane who are now living in Riverside. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Nish, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Udy and family of Plymouth, Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Udy and daughter Stephanie of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Macfarlane, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Macfarlane and family of Riverside. Mr. and Mrs. Lavoy Udy attended Sacrament meeting in Salt Lake City Sunday where their little new granddaughter was blessed by her father Jack of Udy and given the name Janet Balyn Udy. Following the meeting a large family was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Udy. A delicious dinner was served. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. DeLoss Jensen Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Max Adams and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Udy of Tremonton. Spending New Years Day visiting Mrs. Mina Ward were Mr. and Mrs. Smith Ward and son Robert and daughter Rayola of Salt Lake City. Spending New Years Day visiting Mr. and Mrs. Karl Welling were Mr. and Mrs. Don Welling and family of Evanston, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Welling, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Brough and family of Tremonton and Jack Welling of Riverside. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Macfarlane joined Mr. and Mrs. Gale Moon of Idaho Falls in Ogden Thursday eveing where they met Mr. and Mrs. Frank Moon for a dinner at the Jade Terrace. They later attended a movie. Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Macfarlane were Mr. and Mrs. Gale Moon and family of Idaho Falls. , Open House and Mrs. Jay Macfarlane attended an open house honoring Harold Stephens in Ogden on his 65th birthday and also for his retiring after working as a conductor on the railroad for the past 44 years. Saturday visitors at the home of Mrs. Lenore Silvester were Mr. and Mrs. Reed Hess of Sunday Mr. Ogden. in- cluded Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Clive Garn and Mr. and Mrs. Darvel Garn. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stine have just returned after spending the holidays visiting Pauls parents Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Stine in Ozark, Mo. A New Years Eve party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sharon Archibald with Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Oyler as co- Marie Lisa Silvester, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ned Silvester was baptized Saturday and confirmed by her father in Sacrament meeting Sunday, a dinner party was held at the Ned Silvester home following the meeting. Guests were Mrs. Silvesters parents Mr. and Mrs. Rene Deschamps of St. John and Mrs. Lenore Silvester. Monday Mrs. Lenore Silvester had as her dinner guests Mrs. Eva Zundel of Ogden, Mrs. Genevieve Jensen of Brigham City and Mrs. Jane Udy of Plymouth. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Reese Marble and family New Years Day were Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Sparks and family of Pocatello. Saturday Mrs. Mary Mable entertained at a party for her little daughter Kristy who was seven years old. Thirteen little boy and girl friends enjoyed an afternoon of games followed by a tasty luncheon. Kristy received nice gifts. Visiting Mrs. Grant Hirschi Friday was her sister Mrs. Norris Buttars and daughter Angela of Clarkston. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hirschi and family were Mrs. Hirschis parents Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Ward of Malad. Mr. and Mrs. LaVere Udy, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Udy, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Forsberg attended a family party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Udy in Garland Saturday evening. The occssion was Darrells birthday anniversary. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Oleen Udy of Brigham City. Woodbury, program chairman introduced the debate coach at Bear River High School, Burr Dallof who presented a mini demonstration on a debate meet. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Miller spent Sunday visiting Mrs. Millers mother, Mrs. Leona Standing in Ogden. A large group of friends attended a breakfast party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Showell ning. The small son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth (Sherry Didericksen) Allred of Malta was blessed by his grandfather Lytle Willard PTA will meet this evening Willard PTA will meet on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the school. Glen Hawkes, elementary guidance counselor, will be guest speaker for the meeting. Election of a nominating committee for new officers will be held as part of the business session. All parents of Willard school children are invited to attend. Didericksen in Sixth ward Sacrament meeting Sunday and given the name of Clayton K. Allred. Following the meeting a dinner party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Brough. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Allred and family of Malta, Mr. and Mrs. Lytle Didericksen and family of Grantsville and Mr. and Mrs. Verl Anderson of Tremonton. The small daughter of Dr. and J. K. Tebbs was blessed by her father in the Sixth Ward Sacrament meeting Sunday and given the name of Susan Melisse Tebbs. Club and their partners enjoyed a New Years breakfast at the Bowcutt Reception Center Wednesday morning. Special guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Deakin and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wood. Mrs. n Son Blessed The small son of Mr. and Mrs. Kevin (Becky Ann Payne) Kidd of Tooele was blessed by her grandfather DeVerle Payne in the Sixth ward Sacrament meeting Sunday and given the name of Garen Thomas Kidd. A family dinner party was held at the DeVerle Payne home following the meeting. Guests in addition to Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Kidd and family of Tooele were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Payne and family and Mrs. Geri Burton and daughter of Tremonton. Kevin Kidd is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Hamilton of Brigham City. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Rees have returned after spending the holidays in Atlanta, Ga., visiting their son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Terry Rees and small son Logan. President and Mrs. Gerald Simmons and family have returned after spending the holidays visiting Mrs. Simmons parents Mr. and Mrs. Alf Manning in Mesa. Ariz. Miss Carma Stevens has returned to Whittier, Calif., after spending the holidays with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stevens. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Wheatley of Salt Lake City spent the weekend visiting Mr. and Mrs. Deloris Stokes in Bothwell, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wheatley and Mrs. Polly Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Stokes and family spent Saturday in Bountiful visiting Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Stokes and family. The small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bolingbroke was blessed by her father in the Fifth ward Sacrament meeting Sunday and given the name of Sharon Bolingbroke. Immediately following the meeting a dinner party was held at the Bolingbroke home. The children are back in school, most decorations are put up. The new year resolutions made and probably some, if not all, broken The holidays were a whirl of excitment for everyone in the community as they traveled or entertained visitors. President and Mrs. Richard Nicholas spent Christmas and most of the holiday in Arizona or traveling there and back. Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Larsen traveled to Idaho for Christmas with relatives at Mountain Home. They visited with Wanda's father in Salt Lake City during the holiday, season. Clynn and Winifred Richman and family enjoyed Christmas Day with the John Higginson's of Brigham City. Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Brown of Oregon joined Jeralds parents, Jay and Helen Brown, for a gala holiday. They visited Trolley It is Squre in Salt Lake City. Don and LaVone Woodward and family of Corinne helped to make up the happy group. That evening they visited Larry and Vicki Armstrong and son. It was a enjoyable time for all. It was off to Salt Lake City and a festive time with relatives and friends for the Billie Drapers. They also attended the New Years Eve dance held by the Tremonton and Garland stakes. Leo and myself traveled to Brigham City for Christmas day with the Phil Reeder family. It was an enjoyable day with one exception Mike was with the coming down chickenpox. What a way to spend the holidays. The unsettled weather finally left about two inches of snow last night. It is much better than Idaho. We received a call from Duane Bitton at Grace. They are snowbound. There isn't any school for today. They are attempting to feed cattle with snow cats. Overnight Guests Mrs. Grace Hales was an overnight guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Farnsworth in Kaysville Friday. Saturday she accompanied them to Circleville where they attended funeral services for their cousin Melba Robinson. They w ere overnight guests of Mrs. Hales uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Glen Betenson in Circleville Saturday. Sunday Mrs. Hales spent the night with Dr. her son and daughter-in-laand Mrs. Thayne Hales and family in Pleasant View and returned home Monday. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fuhriman and family during the holidays were their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Dixie) Durstiler of Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Fuhriman visited during the holidays with Mrs. Fuhrimans parents Mr. and Mrs. Mar Grange in Huntington. Mr. and Mrs. Con Hansen have arrived home after spending the holidays visiting their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mendoza and daughters in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chadaz, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fuhriman enjoyed a dinner party at Chases Charcoal House on New Years Eve afterwhich they returned to the Fuhriman home for a social. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fuhriman and family Monday were Mrs. Fuhrimans brother Mr. and Mrs. and sister-in-laOrville Harris of Shoshone, son-in-la- son-in-la- Idaho. Spending the past week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clifford John and family were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hight and family of Sheridan, Wyo., and Mr. and Mrs. Theron John and family of Arvada, Colo. On New- Years Day a family party was held at the John home for Clifford who was observing his birthday anniversary. addition In to their houseguests, a turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served to Mr. and Mrs. Theo Anderson and family and Miss Marilyn Hall of Rockford, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Walker, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hone of Pocatello, Mr. and Mrs. Brent John and daughter of Layton, Miss Pat Munson and friend of Brigham City, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd John and family of Ogden. Birthday Call Lloyd John and his wife and family of Arvada, Colo., who are vacationing in Hawaii called to wish Clifford a happy birthday and also his and daughter Mr. and Mrs. son-in-la- Charles Hight and family called from Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Holmgren entertained at a dinner party Saturday evening for Attorney by Senneth Hawkes The New Year was ushered in at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Mario Checketts with food, fun and games the diversions of the evening. Those enjoying the festivities of the evening were, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Nickoliason, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nessler, Mr. and Mrs. Vay Jensen, Rulon Scott and Valov Hawes. Bryce and Marlene Checketts arrived here from their home in Phoenix to visit with the Mario Checketts. They drove a truck up for a dealer in Tremonton. They returned by air Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Crosby of Provo visited their parents the Roger Hendricksons during the week. Visiting at the Reed Munns home were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Munns of Sandy. Marilyn Munns has been here since Christmas and her boyfriend Eric Rasmunssen has been here for the weekend. Scott H. Oyler was confirmed a member of the church Sunday by his father Stacy Oyler. Family members present for the ceremony were his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Howard Oyler, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin King, Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Oyler all of East Garland and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kupfers of Salt Lake City and their family. The group all met for dinner at the Oylers home after church. Angela Gay Torrance was also confirmed by her home teacher Rulon Scott. Rulon Duncan was released and Mrs. Clint Judkins. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Jones and family returned home New Years Eve after spending the holidays visiting Mrs. Jones parents, Mr. and Mrs. Corbin Weed in Las Vegas. Houseguests at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Darwin Woodbury and family during the holidays were Dave Woodbury who is a student at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Miss Judy Woodbury, a student at USU in Logan and Mrs. Woodburys parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ev Adams of Cedar City. A New Years dinner party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alford John. Guests included Bishop and Mrs. Ronald John and children Cameron, Rebecca and Melanie of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Kent John and daughter Kori of Tremonton. Mrs. Ruby Scholar entertained at a dinner party at her home New Years Day. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Burke Scholar and family of Burley and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Holmgren. from his position as coordinator between the Scouting activities of the Primary and the Aaronic priesthood. Sustained in this position was Curtis Christensen. Zina Hansen was also released after many years of service as a genealogical checker. The Thompsons (two) are back in school following their recent auto accident but the parents are still mending slowly. Mrs. Melvin Johnsen is improving rapidly after eye surgery performed Friday. She returned home Monday. The Raymond Grovers arrived home Jan. 2 after having spent their holidays with relatives in California. The Gordon Holmgren family was also in California visiting with Meda and Gayle Holmgren in the Garden Grove area. Elvira Christensen has now left the hospital and is now at the home of her daughter LaRue in Ogden. Paula Norvel and their father Dennis Dallin of Salt Lake City and the Terry Dallins of Coalville visited with LaVon Dallin on Monday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Huggins, Larry and Sheila Dixon of Wisconsin and Farrell Huggins were dinner guests of Margorie Larson December 30. A quilting bee was held at the home of Damsel Nelson on Thursday and Friday of last week. Those present were: Myrtle Anderson, Clytie Anderson, Vita Burt, Dollie Iverson, Beth Christensen, Mary Anderson. Christy Nelson helped her mother serve luncheon to the quilters. Birthday Gathering The Archibalds, the Johnsens, the Dallins and the Nelsons gathered at the home of Dick and Joy Nelson on New Years Day in honor of Joys birthday. Jensen left the the day before Christmas and is going to spend this week with Sam and Romaine Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Holmgren and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Johnsen drove to Salt Lake City Sunday afternoon and were dinner guests at the Dennis Dallin Verlyn hospital home. Mrs. Lula Clayson had as her dinner guests New Years Day the Mario Checketts family, Maxine Adamson and girls of Brigham City and the Keith Clayson family of Richmond. Mrs. Clayson returned home with Keith where she spent the remainder of the week. Rolene Jackson of North Ogden visited New Years eve with Margo Checketts. Mr. and Mrs. Carter Iverson recently returned from an extended trip to Yuma, Ariz. where they visited with her father, Glen Jones. They spent a night in St. George, Las Vegas and Quartsville, Ariz. They had a lovely time but the people down there reported it was the coldest winter they could remember. The highways were clear however. Chorus Meets The county D.U.P. chorus met at the home of Carrie J. Christensen Monday afternoon for song practice for upcoming special occasions. Andrea Huggins and Dollie Iverson attended the D.U.P. officers meeting held at the home of Irene Shuman in Tremonton Tuesday. Attending the funeral for Ursel Anderson in Ogden Monday Dec. 30, were Mary Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Anderson and David and Trudy, Arvilla Holmgren, Flossie and Dee Ramsdell, Della and Addie Christensen, Lester and Ruby Anderson, and the Clair Holmgrens. Mr. Anderson was buried in our cemetary. Bernice Hall entered the Cooley hospital Sunday evening and underwent surgery early Monday morning. Trudy Anderson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Andersn has now joined the college group. Her parents took her to Rexburg where she is enrolled at Ricks college. The ward is somewhat smaller again by the exodus of all our college students who have returned to their studies at various schools throughout the area. Wanda Johnsen is still confined to the Ogden hospital but Mr. Johnsen reports that she is better than she was. Mrs. Sharah Ray spent a week in Corinne minding her grandchildren while the parents Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ray were pn a vacation.
