Senior highs meet at the Bassetts Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. prior to worship, with Sand Dollars meeting Sunday evening at 7 p.m. in Gillespie. This week will be a games night, so you are asked to bring a game to share. Tuesday morning junior highs get together at Holy Cross at 7:30 a.m. for Bible study, cocoa and donuts. Cooperative church school at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in Gillespie hall for all children ages three through sixth grade. Holy Cross Lutheran A fellowship sponsored by the Ministry Coalition of Brigham City has started meeting weekly at Holy Cross Lutheran church with the purpose of reading the entire New Testament in a Bible-readin- g period of 20 weeks. This group meets weekly on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 a.m. to share insights and questions from the readings of the previous week. Rev. John Lundblad, pastor of the congregation, acts as the leader of the group, but the emphasis is on the sharing of experiences and thoughts by the part- icipants. The group is open to all interested persons who desire this kind of Bible fellowship, and who are willing to enter into the discipline of reading the New Testament. Christian Reformed morning worship this Sunday will include a message on the church of Christ. Pastor Ed Boer has begun a series on this topic. Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. At the evening service (6:30 p.m.) a film will be shown, titled In the Presence of Mine Enemies. This is the story and testimony of a Christian POW. The Protestant Student center will join us for this time of Christian fellowship and profit. is An evening of bowling planned a week from Saturday, Jan. 26, beginning at 7 p.m. Youth nite each Thursday at 7 p.m. Childrens Bible classes on Thursdays at 3:45 p.m. The Garland Gazette Civic club meets locally by Flo Munson The Civic and Home Arts club met in the Community center in the Garland library Thursday evening with president JoAnne Wood conducting. Mrs. Wood was also hostess for the group. Denise Potter and Carolyn Holdaway favored with duets accompanied by Susan Rindlisbacher at the piano. Mrs. June Garfield gave an interesting review of John Steinbecks book entitled, The Peairl. Light refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Davis visited their daughter Mrs. Ruby Sims and family in Ogden Friday. Attend Convention and Mrs. Boyd Munns accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Summers of Tremonton returned Saturday after attending the 21st annual Farmers Union convention held at the Ponderosa in Burley. Mr. and Mrs. Oral Wise, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Buchanen, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Westergard and Mr. and Mrs. Don Petersen enjoyed a dinner party at Chases Charcoal House Saturday evening afterwhich they met at the Oral Wise home for a social and games. Overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Glade Timothy Friday were Mr. and Mrs. Max Flinders of Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Brown and family enjoyed Sunday dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Boss of Centerville spent Friday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Mr. Wood. Mrs. Janie Van Komen of Salt Lake City entertained at a pink and blue shower at the home of her grandmother Mrs. C. J. Friday evening in compliment to Mrs. Linda Larson Carter of Salt Lake City. close friends and Twenty-twrelatives enjoyed an evening of fun games followed by dainty light refreshments. Monday Mrs. Hazel Rose ac- companied her houseguests and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Rose and daughter to the Baron Canyon Home where they enjoyed snowmobiling. They also enjoyed a dinner party at the Larry Rose home. Lynn left by plane Wednesday for San Francisco where he has been transfered by the Goldman Sacs company in New York City. Mrs. Lynn Rose and Jessica will remain with relatives in this area until Lynn finds living quarters for them in San Francisco. New Position Mildred Richards has received word that her son Dennis Richards who has been serving as branch president in Missoula, Mont, has been released and sustained as a high councilman. Richard Boman has been staying with his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ferrell Wood while his father Boyd Boman of Lewiston had surgery at the LDS hospital in Logan. Linda Boman has spent a good share of her time with her husband at the hospital and also been at the Ferrell Wood home. Mrs. Lucetta Visiting Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bishop Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Thompson of Layton, Mrs. Marlene Hart and son Matthew and Miss Barbara Thompson of Salt Lake Mrs. City. The accident happened at 7:41 p.m., when a 1971 compact station wagon, driven by Ernest C. Kowall, 526 East Third North, came around a corner and struck a parked 1970 sedan, owned by Iva Lue and Earl V. Hansen, 120 South Third West. Damage to the Hansen vehicle was $75 and loss to the station wagon was $300. Kowall was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol. Patrolman Scott Thorsted was the investigating officer. Broken by snowball A snowball broke the front storm door window at the Herbert Barker residence, located at 122 East Third North, Tuesday afternoon, according to police reports. |
