Harris Calif, visited Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Miss Juanita Jenkins, bride-elec- t, was the guest of honor at a shower given by her aunt, Mrs. Wendell C. Hail at her home Saturday. Gibbs. Mrs. Phelps was a resident of this community several years ago. Mrs. Reed Nielsen spent Tuesday and Wednesday in North Ogden at the home of her and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cannon and family. She brought her two grandsons to her home for a few days and their parents came for them Saturday. The afternoon was spent playing games and refreshments were served to the large group of ladies in attendance. Miss Jenkins was the recipent of many useful and lovely gifts. Those from out of town present were: Mrs. Devere McAllister and daughter of Logan, Mrs. Victor Halford of Preston, Mrs. Sylvia Goody and Mrs. Leah Ravisten of Clarkston, Mrs. Lila Harris and Mrs. Zundel of Malad and Mrs. Roy Childs of Ogden. Leaves on Tour Miss Cheryl Allen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Allen left Saturday with the USU tour for Palmyra, N.Y. where whe will attend the LDS pageant and other points of interest in the eastern states. They plan a two weeks trip. Mr. and Mrs. Woody Peterson, natives of Colorado Springs, Colo., have moved recently from Skull Valley, to Washakie where Peterson is employed by Peterson Bros. Livestock Co. as ranch foreman. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson who are converts of the LDS church are welcomed by members off the Portage ward. Mr. and Mrs. Gaye Smith and family of Vancover, Wash, arrived Friday for a visit with Mr. Smith's sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Chester P. Neal and with his father, Ervin Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Morris and daughter of Ogden were Sunday guests of Craigs parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morris. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Williams of Portage and Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Southwick of Ogden hosted a surprise birthday party in honor their mother, Mrs. DeVon Price at , the Prices summer home in Liberty, on Tuesday afternoon of last week. Twenty-on- e relatives were present. Mr. and Mrs. LaMont Knudsen of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Malan and family of Ogden were weekend guests of their mother, Mrs. Eliza Knudsen. The couples were on their way to their homes from a fishing trip. Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John and daughter Leona visited in Bountiful Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Call. Mr. and Mrs. Duggan Allen of Ogden visited July 24 with Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hall, daughter Diane and sons Robert and Richard of Salt Lake City attended Sunday school here this week. Mrs. Thelma D. Gibbs in attending a genelogical seminar at BYU this week. She left Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Craig Smith and daughter of Rexburg and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harris of Provo were Weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Devere Harris. Donna Cobia and children of Logan visited with them Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Morris took their granddaughters, Lisa and Nickilyn Treadwell to Brigham City Tuesday to meet their mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. James Yarman who returned from a few days honeymoon trip to Bear Lake. The Morris and the Yarmans were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Parker Hupp that evening. Michael Mr. and Mrs. Williams took their daughter to Salt Lake City Friday for medical treatment. A large number of Portage people attended the rodeo at Stone, Idaho., July 23 and 24. Dan Thomas and Kevin John were among the participants. Leonard Mr. and Mrs. Hoskins and son Todd of Ogden were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hoskins. Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Allen of Maiad were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs Allen Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Loren John took their foster daughter, Jennie Atene Smith and children to their home in Kaenta, Ariz. after a months visit with the John family. Mrs. Donald J. Gibbs of Kaysville hosted a family dinner at her home Saturday in honor of her husband who has retired as a fire chief of the Hill Field fire department. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. David P. Gibbs of Portage, Mr. and Mrs. Noel D. Gibbs and family of Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Nelson of Mantua, the honored guest and the hostess and family. Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Gibbs visited in Brigham City Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shaw and family and in Tremonton with Mr. and Mrs. Con Hansen. Mrs. Don Lamb of Pheonix, Ariz. and Mrs. Nina Lamb of Plymouth visited with Mrs. Loren John Friday. Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Hoskins visited in Malad Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Hoskins and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoskins of Pocatello. Among those who attended funeral services or visited the mortuary for Isaac S. Allen of Brigham City Wednesday were: Bishop and Mrs. Glen Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Ora H. John, Mrs. David P. Gibbs, Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Hoskins, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Allen, Mrs. Ethel Hall, Mrs. Eliza Knudsen, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Hall and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris. Bishop Morris presented a vocal solo, accompanied by his wife and Ora H. John was one of the speakers at the service. Mrs. Tony Davis and two children of Whittier, Calif, visited Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs Allen. Mrs. Boyd Madsen and daughter, Teresa of Newardk, Calif, are visiting this week with Mrs. Madsens mother, Mrs. Esther John and other relatives ,and friends. Madsen left Saturday to return to his work after a visit here. Mr. and Mrs. Tasman Gibbs of Moreland, Idaho and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Clements and son Gene of Billings, Mont, visited with relatives here Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. William Ekins of Los Angeles, Calif, visited with Mr. Ekins' aunt, Mrs. Pearl McCrary and other relatives and friends Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Phil R. Harris and family of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gleen and Mr. and Mrs. Lon Williams of Malad were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nielsen were Ogden visitors Saturday. Mrs. Sarah Morris and Mrs. Cora McCrary of Ogden were guests of Mr. and Mrs. John F. Conley Thursday. On July 24 Mr. and Mrs. Evan Stevenson and family of Logan spent the day here. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. John F. Conley, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Hall and others. Missile technician completes training Navy Missile Technician Third Class Randy R. Abel, husband of the former Miss Jana L. Smith of Fielding, graduated from the basic Enlisted Submarine school here. The school trains selected in submarine candidates escape, safety, systems and in principles operating preparation for assignment to submarines in the Pacific and Atlantic fleets.
