Adding to this, the starter bendix went out and the crew had to start the motor with a screwdriver. The idle was too fast on the carburetor and every time the boat was put in gear ... the force was enough to knock ya overboard. Oh yea, another fishing pole was whacked in half in the exact same spot as the other one. A A local anglers recently half-doze- n braved a trip to Lake Powell on a "Friday the Thirteenth" weekend ... and believe me it's a trip they will remember. This writer just had to share their experiences with you. Art Redding, John Fricke, and Sam Manes in one vehicle, and Steve Peterson, Jay Herbert and Curtis Herbert in another, made the historic trip. To start things off they became separated several times on the way down. Anyway the group arrived at Bullfrog basin in the wee hours of the morning and Art's group pitched a tent for camp. Meanwhile, Jay's party, all excited about getting their sea legs in shape, took off down the river. That's when everything started. Someone put a fishing pole by a steering mechanism and the pole was whacked in half. A Coleman lantern got too close to the top on the boat, and burned a hole in it. Whats jName? After all the handling, the trophy was put on a stringer with about 35 pounds of fish. Guess what ... the stringer snapped and sank in 130 feet of water. That's heartbreaking! The group took two rolls of movie film of the gorgeous scenery, but the film was in the camera backwards ... so no scenery pictures. But on top of all this the anglers had a wonderful time, and said it's a fishing trip they'll always remember. There isnt any slums or torn up parts of the city. That is one reason this city is so beautiful. Another reason is people care here. And when the city pays for porch light electricity and provides lights on every corner that helps alot. I hope this city can remain clean as it is now. Truly yours, B. Goodwin Brigham City Make phone number available Editor: . I recently had a question regarding the operation procedures of the Brigham City library. My question was a brief one, and could have been answered by any staff member in a moment without the need for research. I consulted the telephone directory, and found no listing for the library, so I phoned the number listed for the city offices. They told me that they could not ring the library because it was not bn their switch board, and that the library had a separate phone number. When I asked for that phone number I was told that it was unlisted, and although they had it, they were not allowed to give it to me. discussion with In order to have my the library staff member, I had to leave my home, drive across town to the library, park my car, walk to the library, ask my question, return to the car, etc. It seems to me that the library belongs to the people of the city. Do those who made the decision to have a secret telephone number have the right to keep the number of our own telephone from us? I feel that those who govern the reason for existence is the service of the citizens of this area, and that they can be of greater service if they make the staff available by telephone. There is more to the library business than simply checking out books. Much of the library services could be provided by phone.
