Their houseguests, Mrs. Francis Crandall anf Mrs. James Gower of Rapid City, S.D. were honored at a dinner party attended by Dr. and Mrs. Eldon Gardner, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Gardner and Mrs. 72, Farr Weit (Weber county) died Sunday at his home. He was born June 8, 1900, in Coriitne, a son of William F. and Jennie Linn Peters Baker. He married Sarah Smith on in Brigham City. He had owned a welding business and also farmed. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the Army, and moved to Farr West 23 years ago from Willard. Surviving are his widow of Far West; three sons, Earl E. Baker, Farr West; Wayne L. Baker, Roy; Floyd O. Baker, Ogden; IS grandchildren; two four greatgrandchildren. Ellis (Bert) Wise Ellis (Bert) Wise Ellis Leebert (Bert) Wise, 71, South Third West, died Saturday in Cooley Memorial hospital of cancer. 616 He was bron April 6, 1902, in Willard, the son of James Lawrence and Nancy Ann Massengale Wise. He married Nola G. Pence, 2, 1945 in Reno, Nev. She died March 30, 1971. Wise was reared and educated in Corinne, and moved to Reno in 1935 where he was a member of the Carpenter's Local 971. He also served as a Nevada Industrial commission safety inspector. Wise lived the past two years in Brigham City with a niece, Mrs. Joe (Larnee) North. June Mrs. Grace Halford John ar Mrs. Grace Halford John, 79, died last Friday in a Salt Lake City nursing home of natural causes. She was born Sept. 4, 1893 in Portage, a daughter of Joseph Henry and Emma Hoskins Halford. She was married to William Arthur John Nov. 11, 1914 in the Logan LDS temple. He died March 31, 1942. Mrs. John received her education in the Portage schools and attended Box Elder academy. He was a member of the Brigham City Tenth LDS ward and also served during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include, one brother, William Benjiman Wise, Ogden, and several nieces and nephews. Burial was in the Portage City under cemetery aggrangements by the Benson Funeral Home, Malad, Idaho. Mrs. Stella Louis Young Phillips, 84, of 151 North Second West, Brigham City, died Saturday in a Provo hospital of natural causes. She was born Nov. 9, 1888, in Salt Lake City, a daughter of Oscar Brigham and Annie Marie Rosebury Young. She was married to Victor Vern Phillips on Dec. 23, 1907, and he died Oct. 28, 1966. She had resided in Provo and moved to Brigham City after her marriage. She had been active and taught in auxiliaries of the LDS church, serving as a Primary and MIA president. She also was active in club work and had been an officer in the Brigham City Civic Improvement club and was president of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She had been a county chairwoman for the Democratic party. She was one of the few remaining granddaughters of the late LDS church president Brigham Young. Surviving are two sons, Richard V. Phillips, Pasadena, Calif.; Victor Y. Phillips, Hyrum; three daughters, Mrs. William (Gene) Whitaker, Provo; Mrs. J. L. (Winifred) Nelson, Brigham City; Mrs. Fred (LaRene) Duron, Pico Rivira, Calif; 16 grandchildren and eight Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Brigham City Third Ward chapel with Bishop Max Robinette officiating. Interment was in Brigham City cemetery. Nielson Calvin D. Hamilton Calvin Dwight Hamilton, Spanish Fork, died April 7 a Payson hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1896, in Payson, to Peter and Susannah He Pendleton Hamilton. married Anne Simmons on Sept. 3, 1919, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. He was a veteran of World War I and was employed at California Packing plant in Spanish Fork. He was active in the LDS chruch. Among survivors was Mrs. Dorothy (Elaine) Shelton of Brigham City. The parents are members of the Brigham City Twelfth LDS ward. Survivors include parents and three sisters and one brother, Janna, Paula, Cari and Chad; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Buchanan Carl Ray Buchanan, 47, Howell, died Saturday of a heart attack in Tremonton. He was born Jan. 12, 1926, in Salt Lake City, a son of Raymond Lafayette and Mary Brown Gennell Buchanan. He was reared and educated in Salt Lake City and served with the Navy during World WarH. He had worked as a mechanic Oil company and at Hill Air Force base. He was a graduate of the Salt Lake Area Vocational school and moved to Howell in 1964 from Salt Lake City. He was an elder in the Howell LDS ward and served as a home at Wagstaff teacher and Sunday school teacher. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Heber (Mary Lou) Broderick, Tucson, Ariz.
