The event is a special occasion honoring all past presidents of the local Aerie, to be with entertainment presented following the dinner by a group from Utah State university. Music by Phil Valencias orchestra will follow, with all members and their partners invited to join in the fun of the evening. Local Miss to Wed Purcell graduated from South High school in Salt Lake City, and is currently attending the University of Utah as a business major. The couple has circled June 7 as their wedding date, they will make their home in Brigham City, and Mr. Purcell will continue his studies at Utah State university. will meet Joining the ranks of June brides Miss Kristine Bunderson, who will exchange vows with Malcolm John Purcell on June 7. Hawkesof ANNIVERSARY Howell will be honored at an open house on Sunday, April 2, in observance of their 50th wedding Open House to Fete Howell Couple Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Laurence A. Hawkes of Howell will be honored by their family at an open house on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary, Sunday, April 2. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to call at the Bowcutt Reception center, 105 West Main street, Tremonton, between the hours of 2 and 5 p.m. They request no gifts. Mr. Hawkes was born in Logan, a son of Alvin James and Margaret John Smith Hawkes. He spent his boyhood in Logan and received his education there. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War 1. Mrs. Hawkes, the former Mabel Josephine Nielson, was also born in Logan, the daughter of Albert Michael and Martha Adeline Fereday Nielson. She was reared in River Heights and received her education in Providence. On April 2, 1922 they were married in Logan. There marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS temple. They made their home west of Logan where Mr. Hawkes operated a farm and engaged in the dairy business. In 1932 they moved to Howell, where they bought a dry farm and built a home. Later they bought the Blue Ridge Farm and Ranch in the northeast Howell area and became engaged in the cattle and sheep business. He is now retired and his sons operate the farm. Active In Church Members of the LDS church, Mr. Hawkes has served in the superintendency of the Sunday school and YMMIA and as ward teacher. Mrs. Hawkes has served as Primary president, a Primary teacher; and as counselor in the Relief society during the time the new Howell church house was being built. At the time of her release from Relief society she was honored with a "This Is Your Life" program. Over the years their loving, Relief Society Sets Meeting Chapter Enjoys New Shipment in time for Easter Xi Alpha chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met March 9 at the home of Doris Olsen for its regular meeting. vice Vincenta Singh, president, introduced her guest Sister Rose Zita who presented a very moving lesson on high moments in love and faith. Sister Rose Zita used a slide presentation and script in her program. Nominees for chapter offices were announced, with each nominee to campaign for her opponent during the coming period. She is now locally employed. In 1970 she was chosen as first attendant to the Peach Queen and is currently reigning as Tremonton Wheat and Beet Queen and as for Archie Earl Buchanan. in affairs, Buchanan served government agricultural ASC government work, agricultural programs,wasanda Farm Bureau and member of the Box Elder county fair board. Buchanan was born March 25, 1892 in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico, a son of Archibald Waller Overton and Caroline Sorenson Buchanan. He was the youngest in a family of 26 children. He had a twin sister just a few minutes older than he. His father was one of the early pioneers in this western country. His mother was a convert to the Church of Jesus Saints from Christ of Latter-daDenmark. She was an obstetrician and a trained nurse. In 1884, he along with his parents, brothers and sisters moved to Glenwood, Sevier county. In 1902 they moved to Utah. When he Venice, graduated from elementary school he was awarded a scholarship to the University of Utah for four years. In 1917 he married Florene Davis. In 1934 he and his wife and family moved to Logan where he attended USU. In 1936 they moved to West Tremonton where he purchased a farm and also raised livestock.
