Elected president was Ken Allen, with Floyd Kling serving as vice president, Dick Yeaxey as treasurer, Jack Bean as secretary and John Markham as equipment supervisor President Allen said the team will continue to train each week In the waters of Box Elder county and surrounding areas, as they have done In the past, THAT THE most ambitious project lined up for the team this year will be fixing up a school bus which the team purchased from Mor. gan county school district. He said the members bought the bus "out of their own pock, ets" and it will be used to haul the team on emergencies as well as training missions. During the past year, Allen said, the local divers participate ed In two drownlngs or ap. parent drewnings and helped In the search of a lost plane, HE SAID THE FIRST CAME when the team searched for two days at Pine View reservoir last winter for the apparent victim of a car which plunged (or was pushed) Into the reservoir. "Although we didnt find the would be victim, "who later turned up In California, Allen said, "one of our members did find a stolen car which had been on the bottom of the res. ervolr for four years." The local team worked along side the Weber county team In that search. The second emergency was at Deep Creek reservoir near Malad, The Box Elder team searched for and found a young drowning victim there. They handled this project alone, with the help of Box Elder County deputies, who drive the boat. Also, Allen related that the team spent several weekends looking for the lost airplane which was thought to have gone down In Willard Bay reservoir. It was later found In the lower bay, however, and the team help, ed the FFA look for missing parts there. ALLEN SAID THE team Is available for emergencies any. where the sheriff sends them. He said nearby counties who may not have their own scuba team or whose team needs assistance In a search must con. tact Box Elder County Sheriff Warren Hyde before they can be dispatched. Area lakes which the team has ALSO, THE SCUBA TEAM plans to conduct a free hour Intensive training program, this winter, Allen went on, for any adult who wished to learn how to scuba dive. Many of the details of this program have yet to be work, ed out, and notice will be given before It starts. He said a very successful program of this type was conducted last year. Allen told that each man on the team has from $350 to $400 Invested In his scuba gear. This Is all at the divers own MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS two-yea- hand-to-han- Promontory Man Takes Training Steven H.
