Show TICKER TPS HuntorsTako Precautions To Avoid Hoart Ailments Heart attack deaths during hunting season? Not as spectacular perhaps as deaths from gunshot wounds, but three times as prevalent. Those are the statistics which fill the news during fall hunting seasons. Game may live because It can outspeed or outdistance the hunter, and be stalked another year. Hunters also should take precautions to avoid falling prey to the risks of the hunt. The Utah Heart Association makes the following recommendations which will help bring hunters back alive: FIRST OFF. Mr. Hunter, ask Do yourself this question: I have the heart to hunt? This deals not with sentiment, but with the actual condition of your heart. Hunting of any kind often demands levels af energy output which may triple or quadruple the level at which most hunters operate durpart-tim- e ing the rest of the year. Extreme of weather, change in altitude, rough terrain, and the stress of the chase put heavy demands on the hunt- er's hearts. ONE DOCTOR puts It this way: "You cannot take your car on a long trip, or speed on WITCH'S WHIRL That's tbs thsmt of tho Brigham CMy stake Married first party sf the new MIA year. Here brewing up some preparations for the event are Jean Har rlwn, Reeie Beeton, Darlene Hadfleld and "friends." It Is the same with a man's body. It must be in good condition and Its motor must be in good running order. To climb a hill or wade a marsh can require a shift to low gear, and draw on body energy and muscles which have been dormant for a year." Age also has great bearing on your ability to do any hunting. So the first thing you should do Is have a complete examination before you plan y:ur hunting trip. Your doctor can, if necessary, suggest ways in which you can pace yourself, get your game and at the same time minimize the strains on your heart. OTHER SUGESTIONS from Utah Heart association are: Choose lightweight but warm lathing. Know simple first-ai- d rules. Be moderate in eating and drinking. Observe standard rules for handling firearms. AND remember the biggest game Is getting back in god shape, if you take as good care of yourself as you do your gear, you can enjoy hunting for many esasons to come.
