The Box Elder Journal offered a $1.00 cash prize to the best story in each section. Judged by the English staff at the high school, the winners are Shara Lee Jeppsen, Bruce Compton, Cleo Ann Larsen, Lucille Schow and Sandra Glover. are Second place winners Eugene Valentine, Karen Marie Jensen, Holley Holmgren, Hillman and Connie Rio.
