In judging land students will look for texture, permeability of subsoil and substratum depth of top soil, soil profile, presence of water table, and salinity, erosion, alkili others. After classifying the land the contestant decides what crop would be most suitable for it. Purpose of the contest is to teach students qualities and kinds of land and how to properly use for maximum production. Four fields will be visited. Pits have been dug in each so contestants can examine and judge them. The school bus will leave the high school for the first field trip at 9 a. m. and again at 11 a. m.
