MIACKINAW, Crompton Evidently the political campaign in Brigham City hasnt reached a fever pitch yet. Monday afternoon Glen Burt, incumbent Democratic councilman and manager of the Star barber shop, was seen shaving Morris Glover, incumbent Republican. Both men are up for reelection, too. If they were in Nicarauga it would be a messy barber shop by the time the razor weilding politician had worked over his Savings Bonds Drive With the United States again purchasing billions of dollars worth of fighting equipment for the cold and hot war fronts around the world, the purchase of U. S. Savings, bonds again takes on the importance it had during World War Two. Realizing this, the mothers and wives of Brigham City national guardsmen have taken the bull by the horns and volunteered to head the bond drive here. Over 35 of the ladies, along with Brigham City civic leaders, met last Monday evening with Clem Schramm, director of the bond division of the Treasury department for Utah. They made preliminary plans and were assurred of the cooperation of the bank and civic organizations of Brigham City. It appears they will push the drive right over the top. Congratulations and assurance of assistance is certainly due the group of ladies. Fourth Ward Will Dedicate Chapel Sunday After years of work, sacrifice and donation, members of the Brigham City Fourth next ward can proudly write complete Sunday morning when their beautiful new chapel is dedicated at 10 a. m. Dedication of an LDS chapel means it is paid for it really is complete for they are never dedicated if money is still owed on them. So the people of the Fourth ward can truly say their job of building is done. The beautiful chapel cost the 675 ward members and, tJiDS church a total of $122,000 --& real sacrifice for every member. 1 Something ofa record was set in the time it took, to complete the building. Ground was broken for it on May 20, 1949. It was occupied on July 28, 1950. Only 14 months after construction began it was being used. The spacious chapel has a normal seating capacity of 235. By including the recreation hall this can be increased to600. Besides the new chapel and recreation hall, which are equipped with a public address system and air conditioning unit, there is a -- 4- Business men were amazed at governmental efficiency this week when, only 'three days after the new tax bill was past, they received the tax booklets listing the new taxes.
