Edwin Baird of Baird Agenawarded a $200.00 cy, was check as first prize in a five weeks sales contest conducted by the Auto Owners Protective association of Logan and Salt Lake City. The contest was staged in August and September and the results of the competition was announced recently and the prize presentation made. Baird intends to use the cash prize to help defray expenses on a proposed trip to Mexico and Central America during January where he will study ancient ruins and their relation to the Book of Mormon. At - mosi Iii th State Fair Oct Results of the many entries from Box Elder county at the Utah State Fair recently held in Salt Lake City were announced in today by the committee charge. With the Box Elder county exhibit leading the way with a special award the individual entries from the county walked off with many of the top honors. Winning a sweepstake prize and a first place with a crochet bedspread was Mrs. Elizabeth C. Boyce of Brigham City. Mrs. Hannah Summers of Tremonton won first place with a set of baby booties. Rhea Thompson of Tremonton won blue ribbon honors with a bed set and second place honors with a doiley, breakfast set, tea towels, runner and vanity set. Mrs. Grace Homer of Tremonton won a first place with a crochet table cloth and a second with a crochet bedspread. Dorothy Kerr of Tremonton won first with aplequae pillow slips, third with embroidered pillow slips, second with cut work table cloth and second with cut work napkins. Mrs. Ed Silvester of Tremonton won a second place with a girl's suit. Mrs. Annie Barlow of Brigham City won first and second place prizes with braided and crochet rugs. Mrs. John Harding won a first place with a rug. Mrs. Ruth H. Reed of Corinne won second place prizes with book ends and a suit and third place prizes with a blouse and chair rug. In the food preservation department Mrs. Ralph Jenson of Bear River City won four first places and a second in jellies. Mrs. La Rope Mary Braegger won 10 firsts and one second in vegetables, fruits, jams and jellies. Margrette Stander, girl won 7 firsts and a second in the open classes of fruits and vege- tables. Mrs. Iva N. Barker of Brigham City, won 15 firsts and 3 seconds in meats, fruits, vegetables and conserves. Mrs. Oscar Hunsaker of Brigham City won five firsts, three seconds and two thirds with pickles, jellies and fruits.
