Show I A i surprise! Open house will honor couple on anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Roger Seder-hol- d will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on Monday, Oct. 3, at home quietly. But on Friday, Oct. 14, their neighbors have planned a surprise (up to now!) open house for them in the Relief Society room of the Box Elder stake center, 420 South Eighth West, where friends and relatives are invited to call from 7 to 9 p.m. to share in this happy occasion. It was on Oct. 3, 1917, that young Verna Ransom and Roger Sederholm travelled by train to be married in the Salt Lake LDS temple, accompanied by his mother. They were surprised to see Moroni and Priscilla Bott also there to be married on the same date. Mrs. Sederholm is a native of Cleveland, Idaho, where she was born Aug. 2, 1899, to James R. and Agnes Elizabeth Austin Ransom. A Brigham City native, Roger Sederholm was born June 26, 1895, to Carl A. and Annie Marie Valentine Sederholm. His father died when he was not quite two years old and his mother reared the children during World War II in Europe. Their youngest son is Car! R. Sederholm, a law school dean, who lives with his wife Janice and seven children in Lake-wooCalif. In 1948 they built a cozy brick home at 72 South First West, and will observe their 30th year in that home next spring, lnere he keeps a fine garden that supplies them with abundant vegetables, and he also enjoys getting away occasionally for some leisurely fishing. Mrs. Sederholm is a homebo- - Couples note SIXTY YEARS OF MARRIAGE is a milestone not reached by many couples. On Monday, Oct. 3, two Brigham City couples recall memories of travelling to Salt Lake City dy who enjoys sewing and all sorts of handiwork, as well as doing genealogical work. As for the success of their marriage, both note that a marriage takes give and take on the part of both partners with love as the basis for a sound relationship. On that note, their neighbors again extend an invitation to all their friends to attend the open house in their honor. In Idaho Tri-Stat- presidency, and on the genealogical committee, and is now a Relief Society visiting teacher. Bott, for they will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on that date. They don't have any special plans for Monday but their family will honor them at an open house on the following Saturday, Oct. 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Fourth LDS ward. Mrs. Bott served as Relief Society organist for 40 years, taught Primary for over 20 years, was a Sunday School teacher, genealogy worker, and has been Relief Society teacher ever since shes been in Brig since Roger and Verna Sederholm exchanged marriage vows and neighbors have planned an open house in their honor on Oct. 14 in the Box Elder stake center. IT HAS BEEN 60 YEARS Dr. and Mrs. Burke Wingate in Lafayette, then spent several days in Ukiah with the Watkins family. Tuesday evening they spent in Santa Rose at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Christensen, former Utah residents. Thursday they went by bus to Richmond and were house-guest- s of his nephew, Mr. and Mrs. H. George Bryne. They enjoyed a trip into San Francisco on BART, the under-- 1 ground train connecting the cities around the bay, before flying back to Utah, ham City. She is also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pio- neers. After sending four boys and one girl on LDS missions, they were called to serve a mission together in Maryland where he was branch president. Now they assist at the Ogden LDS temple two or three days per week. Seven children Mr. and Mrs. Bott raised seven children, with two dying in infancy. Their children include Moroni Franklin Bott of Corinne; D. Robert Bott, Salt Lake City; Don LaMar Bott, Moreland, Idaho; Mrs. Smith (Thelma) Kent, Arthur Jess Bott, and Mrs. Phil (Daisy) Steed, James Orville Bott, all of Brigham City. They have 42 grandchildren and great grandchildren, with family pictures placed about their home and a toybox behind the door for young visitors. Although he doesnt still have a big farm, he keeps a milk cow and garden. Mrs. Bott churns butter from their own fresh milk, so that it can be spread on the homemade bread she bakes. She was born Dec. 17, 1897, to Franklin and Frances Thomas Greenhalgh in Bloomington, Idaho. After her mothers death 11 years later, her father remarried and the family moved to Brigham City. Mornoi Bott was born in Paris, Idaho, to John Henry and Susan Reeder Bott on May 23, 1892. His mother was living in the Bear Lake area due to the polygamy purge going on at the time, but later returned to Brigham City. Enjoyed farming Although he had assisted his father in the stone-cuttintrade, young Moroni Bott preferred farming as an occupation. In fact, the young couple went out peddling fruit in a horse-drawwagon on the day following their marriage. He farmed an area out in the Bear River valley, but the couple moved into the family home on Bott Lane (Third North) and raised their family there. This was the first roadway built up to the foothills and their home was pretty isolated in early times, especially in Sunday, October 2, 1977 vivid ! erican Legion Post 10 in later years. After initial employment as a farmer, he was employed wth Merrells Lumber and with e Lumber in Brigham mary, in the Relief Society by train to be married in the LDS temple. There, by surprise, they encountered one another with neither couple aware that the other had also chosen that wedding date and location. open house Priscilla The couple met when he travelled to Idaho to work on a farm. They spent their first few years of marriage in Idaho, moving to Brigham City in 1921. He served in World War I in France on two fronts, and was an active member of the Am- City. Both Mr. and Mrs. Sederholm have been active in the LDS church. He has served in the bishopric of the Second ward, a Sunday School superintendent, as high priest group leader, and is now a home teacher.
