Everyone aged 8 and interested in playing baseball is asked to be at the Pioneer Park baseball field at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Games are commencing this week with a review of fundamentals each day. New children interested in the program may contact Jim Fuller or be at the park early on Tuesday. The local golfer added another link to his chain of accomplishments Friday when he captured first place in the 5 age bracket of the Mickey Goodliffe Memorial Junior tournament at the BrighamCity course. 4 He also is currently fourth in standings for a place on Utahs four-ma- n America Cup team which will play in Mexico City later this year. Doug Bybee of Brigham Cjty is third in the standings. This years Mickey Goodliffe Memorial Junior Golf tourney attracted a record field of 122 young players Friday. And when the scores were posted, it was Ogdens Tom Bashford who captured first place and the traditioanl wrist watch that goes with it. The young linkster, currently for a place on the front-runnJunior AmerUtahs four-ma- n ica Cup team, had to win it the hard way, however. At the end of play he was deadlocked with Brigham Citys Gene Munk. Both came in with 69s, five under par, in the age group. Sudden-deat- h playoff gave the nod to Bashford. Actually it was a day of playoffs as ties developed for top places in two other flights as 14-1- 16-1- 7 . Gene Munk . places second well. 1 1 Clark Garso and Jeff John had to settle a deadlock in the age group when each carded a 42 after nine holes. Garso won out for first. 12-1- 3 all-sta- rs Went to Playoff And in the bracket, Mark Davis and Mark Romney went to a playoff after each 10-1- 1 tournament set Brigham City Boys Baseball Bronco league will conduct its tournthird annual city ament during the week of July all-st- 11. The National, Intermountain and American leagues have each selected an all star team which will be coached by the coach of the team with best season record. All games of this double elimination tournament will be at 6 p.m. at Memorial park in Brigham City. Participants came from as far south as Springville and from Logan on the north. A majority of those competing were from about 90 players out of town. Goodliffe credited an upsruge in emphasis on junior golf in Utah for the strong turnout. The Box Elder High school junior fired rounds of 5 148 to capture first place. That was 4 over par. Four strokes behind him in second place was another Brigham City youth, Gene Munk, 17, a graduate of Box Elder High school this past spring. Munk also 'tied for second place in medal competition at last falls state prep golf tourney and has a scholarship to attend the University of Utah on his links ability.
