The convicted murderer of two and suspect in two other homicides in Washington and Oregon apparently was in Brigham City Thursday, then boarded a bus for New York state. Local police said they were notified Olds was in the area after 8 p.m. Thursday night, nearly an hour and a half after the man was reported to have left from the local bus depot. Reports are conflicting and varied, but all agree that a cab driver and an elderly woman were victims in the kidnapping-murde- r spree. Another Oregon man and an Idaho woman were kidnapped at gunpoint Thursday morning and forced to drive Olds to' Brigham City where he left the car and proceeded on foot. Reports conflict here, too, some saying he was dropped off at the bus depot, while others say he left the pair on the Interstate-15- , and walked into Brigham City. The latter story seems to be colloberated by a handful of local residents who saw a man matching the description of the fugitive walking east of West Forest near the entrance to the sanitary landfill. This was about 3:45 p.m. Police said a man matching Olds description boarded an eastbound bus about 6:40 p.m. We believe he left town at this time, they said. Despite this, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents appeared to believe Olds might still be in the area and have kept local law enforcement agencies on the lookout for the suspect. Kidnapped and forced to drive Olds to Utah was Mrs. Grace Davis of Hazelton, Idaho who drove to Jerome, Idaho before reporting the incident to authorities. By that time, Olds had left the area. Police quoted her as saying she made a bargain with Olds that if they were left unharmed, they would return to Idaho before alerting authorities. She said Olds knocked on her door Thursday morning, stuck a gun in her face and ordered her to give him a ride. 180 pound Olds is The considered extremely dangerous. He was on parole for two killings in 1962 at the time of the latest incidents. He reportedly carries a .32 caliber automatic pistol.
