The outcome left Box Elder with a 0 Region One mark, good for undisputed second place in the standings following Bonnevilles lopsided loss to Roy Friday afternoon. The Bears are now Fridays traditional meeting between Box Elder and Bear River at Ferguson field figured to be a closely played football game. And thats just what the crosscountry kids dished up for their respective faithful. In the end it was a field goal off the talented toe of Brad Olsen that left Box Elder final on the upside of a score. Each team scored a touchdown at the end of a sustained drive. The Bees did it off the opening kickoff. The Bears cashed in as time was running out in the contest. In between there was a smorgasbord of pigskinnery to be enjoyed and agonized over. g And a lot of hard-hittin- Other Contest In the only other Region One contest Friday, Sky View picked up its first victory at Vie expense of winless Logan. Everybodys back in action Wednesday, except Roy, thanks to the annual Utah Education association convention. Box Elder faces a stern test in a 7:30 p.m. encounter with Bonneville. Itll be the Bees homcoming and if spirit runs any higher at Beeville they may have to take out flood insurance. Other matchups will see Sky View invade Bear River and Logan play host to Weber. The Hive guys are 1 now with just three games remaining. First-yea- r coach Tot Workman called it "a tremendous team effort; And he labeled the first scoring drive as the best weve had as a team. Coach Workman also had praise for the Bears. I thought Bear River played a super ball game. You could tell (Curtis) Kidman was hurt and not running with his ususal intensity. The fine senior running back was hampered by a thigh bruise, but still managed to gain 80 yards in 20 carries. Fullback Chris Webb and 10-- 8 hanky-throwin- harriers team top in invitational IS 2-- A Intermountain schools crosscountry teams had the best schools at showing among an invitational meet in Provo recently. The Eagle varsity was 17th from among 32 varsity schools, with 489 most and points. Provo was first with 89. 3-- Wilfred Tanazanie placed 39th among 205 varsity runners in the event. And the Eagle junior varsity was seventh overall, placing behind such powers at Davis, Provo, Orem, Bountiful, Highland and Weber. Mike Marcia was 29th in the JV over the 2,2 mile course. Some 208 runners competed in the JV event. near the BR goal line which Webb intercepted. Otherwise, he was cool, confident, elusive and effective, running for 63 yards on an assortment of sneaks and option rollouts.
