Show J BOX ELDER NEWS, Open to area residents Brigham City, Utah Sunday, August 1, 1976 Prenatal classes set at hospital Peach Days show beckons artists The 1976 Peach Days Art festival beckons local artists to participate in the annual show, held each year in connection with Peach Days at the museum-gallerThis reminder comes from Delone Glover, chairman of the show, and Phyllis Owen, director of the gallery. Cash awards will go to winneis in the Brigham City Award division, both art and photography, and a Bicentenrial award will be presented again this year by the Wasatch Art guild. Other awards will be given in oils, amwatercolors, acrylic, other media ateur and professional and photography commerical and general. Some new things will be added this year and will be announced at a later date. Poetry set at library Questions By You And Your Friends Kiwanis issues reminder Answers from Ray Malmrose of July yard competition The Box Elder Poetry society is going to present something different in the way of poetry A Aug. 6. , Prenatal classes will begin at the Brigham City Community hospital Thursday, Aug. 5 at 8 p.m. and will be taught by Martha Larsen, R.N., accordig to Jan Tucker, nursing services secretary. Classes will be held each Thursday for eight consecutive weeks. For further information call ext. 207. will be available at the museum-galler- y on Aug. 4. All exhibitors are encouraged to pick up their packet on that date, the chairman said. Artist and photographers are urged to ready their work and participate again in this annual festival. This show is one of the most popular shows of the year and features the best of the Brigham City artists. Judges over the years indicate that Brigham City has more talent in art per capita than other city her size, Mrs. Glover concluded. reminder was issued this week that and others deemed worthy will be singled out for honorable mention. The award recipient will receive an engraved plaque at a special awards luncheon this fall with monthly winners to be named for the months of June, July August and September. The yard of Mrs. Sadie Jensen, 427 South Second West, was the June winner. In their deliberation, judges consider the color and condition of lawns, shrubs and other plantings, neatness and appearance of the home and other buildings. Only those yards which have won in the past are not eligible for the competition. And a yard may be entered not only by the owner but a friend or neighbor. entries are being sought in the Kiwanis clubs Yard of the Month contest for July in Brigham City. The society will present Benchmark West, a group who will put poetry into action in the basement of the Brigham City Carnegie library at 8 p.m. Poems for the performance have been selected from winning Bicentennial entries. John Mason, a native of Brigham City who has recently appeared in the movie, "In will Search of Noahs Ark, perform with the group. The deadline for receiving entries is Wednesday, Aug. 4, and a form can be found on Page 3 of todays Box Elder News. Only those yards officially entered in the competition will be considered when judges make their rounds next Friday, a spokesman said.
