On the one hand they know that considerable progress has been made in the treatment and cure of certain types of cancer. On the other hand, they find that the overall mortality rate has gone up. A detailed study has been launched to determine the cause of the rise. The extent of the cancer problem in Box Elder county is indicated in the annual reports of the U. S. Public Health Service. According to its last three annual reports, the number of local deaths attributed to cancer has averaged 24 per year, four of them due to lung cancer.
