NEWS, Brigham City, Utah Sunday, October 27, 1974 7-- 9 theatre in IS Theatre group slates comedy Brigham City Community theatre is preparing a hilarious political comedy, The Girls in 509 by Howard Teichmann, for performances Nov. 7, 8 and 9. The production is directed by Ralph Coleman and features a cast of some of Brigham Citys most experienced actors and actresses. Leading the cast are such notables as Sandra Burridge as Aunt Hettie, a wealthy aristocrat in her seventies who, when Herbert Hoover, her favorite Republican candidate for president of the United States, was defeated in the general elections of 1932, went into seclusion in a fashionable hotel suite rather than face her friends who donated to the campaign at her insistance. Members of the NJROTC program at LEARN MOUNTAINEERING Box Elder High have been learning the techniques of mountaineering as part of their instruction. BEHS NJROTC unit 'alive and well' The cadets have been involved in many activities since the opening of school. Fifteen boys recently completed a rigorous physical con- k ditioning that program prepared them for a two-datest of strength, endurance, and skill. During those two days the cadets learned basic rappelling and cliff climbing and participated in a rugged cross country run in the mountains above Mantua. During one afternoon they rigged ropes across a nearby canyon and tested their skill by sliding on those ropes from rim to rim. The boys reported that no ride at Lagoon could come close to the thrill of the "slide-for-lify Cadet Lt. Leonard Andrews is the units executive officer and also trains the male drill team Cadet Lt. (Junior Grade) Byron Butler is the operations officer. Cadet Ensign Patti Merritt and Naomi Lane drill the girls color guard units, while Cadet Ensign Donna Archibald and Cadet Chief Beth Hickox head up the girls drill team. Cadet Ensign Jeff Mitchell leads the cadets who accepted the challenge of mountaineering and small unit tactics. The unit is instructed by Chief John "Sam Bassett. He will speak at the Bear River High School auditorium from 10 to 11 a.m., after which he will travel to Logan for further engagements. Anderson is a nationally known columnist and ran for vice president on the American Party ticket along with former Congressman John Schmitz in 1972. Since then he has been working building the American party as a viable third party in every state across the nation, a spokesman said. The growth and progress of the American party has been the remarkable under leadership of Mr. Anderson. In recent months the party has achieved a major breakthrough by obtaining ballot position in heavily-populatestates such as New York, Texas, Indiana and Florida. Gaining ballot positions in many states is no easy task, In Florida alone for example, over 100,000 signatures of registered voters were required to list the the party on the ballot, spokesman said. The unit was placed on probation last year due to an enrollment of less than 100 students. This year the unit is alive and well with an enrollment of over 118 cadets.
