The Hornets squeaked past in a game that the Giants was tied until Ryan Gardner knocked in the winning run for Eric Lyons the Hornets-scorin- g from second. Eddie Rader and Don Anderson each went three innings on the Giant mound and Rich Daines with Matt Smoot coming on in relief pitched for the Hornets. The Giants got as many hits as they did runs, with E. Rader getting a double and triple, Don Anderson, getting two doubles, Doug Talboe, and Don Standereach smacking a triple, and Steve Aoki and John Ackerman knocking a single. R. Daines and R. Gardner each smacked a homerun and a double, Eric Lyons recorded a single and a double, and Shawn Gardner connected for a single.
