Kelly, has completed the first year curriculum in Air Science of a four year program at Brigham Young university. During the freshman year the program consisted of subjects such as the Factors of Aerospace Power, Major Ideological Conflicts, and Aerospace Leadership. In addition to the regular class work he was able to participate in monthly cadet socials, drill teams with and without weapons, and was offered motivational base visitations to various Air Force bases in the Western United States and was transported to and from these military bases via military aircraft.
