His appointment to the new commission comes as a result of the passage of the Bear River Compact. Water users of the Bear River in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming, recently welcomed the news of the consent given by the 85th Congress and the signature of President Dwight D. Eisenhower on the Bear River Compact, making it a public law, No. buy. The campaign will be coordipromonated with a state-widtion, using the theme, Business It is Up, You Auto Buy Now. is being pushed by the Utah Automobile Dealers association. On the local level, the Chamber of Commerce has pledged its support and will provide facts and figures to show that our economic picture is a bright one, with more money in savings accounts now than ever before. For the past 30 years, various agencies - and individuals have worked for a definite solution to the controversies over the distribution of the Bear River water, between the three states. Court decrees have always left some controversial points, since the river meanders through three states where water is administered according to the individual state law. The Compact has provided for. the division of the water between users to harmonize with state laws, As a means of enforcing the terms of the division, the Compact provides for the appointment of an inter-statadministrative agency, the Bear River Commission. The new commission is composed of nine commissioners, three to represent each of the signatory states, Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. It is anticipated that the President of the United States will appoint one commissioner to serve as chairman of the commission, without vote.
