Max Smith Graveside services were conducted Friday, April 11, in the Brigham City cemetery for Arthur Max Smith, who passed away April 8 at his home in Idaho Falls after a , illness. Funeral services had been held Thursday in the Idaho Falls Fourth LDS ward chapel and the remains were brought to Erigham City for burial. Conducting the graveside services was C. L. Hansen counselor in the Brigham City Third LDS ward bishopric. Invocation was offered by William F. Armstrong. A vocal duet was sung by Mr. and Mrs. Kay Shuman, followed by remarks by K B. Olsen. A resume of the deceaseds life was read by Amelia Brunt. Bishop A. W. Brunt of the Idaho Falls .Fourth ward was the concluding speaker. Benediction was offered by Ken neth Hailing. Interment was in the Brigham City cemetery and the dedica tory prayer was offered by Clark Hubbard. The deceased is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur P. Smith. Christensen, died at the Dee hospital in Ogden at 2 a. m., Tuesday morning, of complications following surgery. She was bom Feb. 8, 1915, at Delta, Utah, a daughter of George Edward and Abby Mae Workman Billings. When three years of age, she was left an orphan and her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Billings of Delta, raised her to young womanhood. They later moved to Springville, and she graduated from Springville High school. In 1942 she graduated from the Salt Lake General hospital school of nursing as a registered nurse. She worked as superintendent of nurses at the Iron county hospital in Cedar City. She was married to Leon Noble Christensen on May 1, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. After he returned from the service, they made their home in Prigham City. She has been an active member, of the LDS church, having served as a teacher in the Primary and Sunday school and a member of the genealogical committee. She was a nursing instructor for the Red Cross. Surviving are her husband and the following children: Renee, Antone, Edward, Virginia, Janet, Dorothy and Mary Christensen, all of Brigham City; and three sisters: Mrs. Elva Ashcraft of Springville, Mrs. Nelda Craine and Mrs. Julia Goodwon of Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p. m. in the Eighth ward chapel with Bishop E. B. Friends Harrison officiating. may call at the Harold B. Felt Funeral Home Thursday from 7 to 9 p. m. and Friday, prior to service. Interment will be in the Bear River City cemetery. Born Nov. 15, 1875, at Garnett, Kansas, she was a daughter of Charles Lewis and Annie E. Lan-te- r Berry. She was reared and educated in Kansas and was graduated from Oklahoma State college. Mrs. Card taught school in Oklahoma before her marriage to William A. Gates in 1898 at Pawnee, Okla. They lived in Kansas City, Mo., and were later divorced. She came to Utah and was married to Alma Card in the Logan LDS temple in 1924. Mrs. Card was employed for a time by the Utah-ldah- o Sugar company. She was active in Jhe LDS church having served ' as president of the Corinne LDS ward Relief society and was ' a genealogical and temple worker. Surviving are her son of Santa Maria; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Hudson of Houston, Tex.; and Mrs. Florence Stowers of Las Vegas, Nev.; and five sisters. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p. m. in the Corinne ward chapel with Bishop Henry Norman officiating. Friends may call at the Harold B.
