I honestly believe that if given a chance to play, in something faster than a Farm Bureau League, and under good management that Brigham can field a right good team made up of boys from Brigham and vicinity. What credit does Brigham garner from fielding a team made up almost exclusively of outsiders. Such a set-uin amateur baseball is ridiculous. If the city was sponsoring a professional baseball team then it would make sense. Not only that, our city is paying privilplenty for the ege of watching the Peaches cavort for Brigham for the glory of Brigham, etc. Our boys would be glad to play for peanuts and then the city could take the $2500 and put metal grilles over the irrigation culverts and perhaps save the life of an infant instead of paying said fund to our outside baseball players. Several years ago there was in existence in this end of the state a league known as the Utah-Idahleague. This league was composed of Ogden, Brigham, two teams from Logan, Smithfield, Crystal Springs, Malad and Preston. I for one would certainly like to see that league and considerable interest is being aroused locally for just such a thing. That league was a good league and Brigham, while not winning any championships, did field good teams that drew almost as many spectators as do our more celebrated Peaches of today. I say Lets wise up here in Brigham." Lets don't get too big for our pants. Its a proven fact, and the Peaches have proved it, that our local boys don't have the ability to play in the state league so lets pull in our horns and get in a league where we belong and where our own boys Can do or die for dear old Brigham." Ill bet plenty that they will never quit cold and make a joke out of a ball game as have our paid boys in two games at the 1947 J I baseball players to be lured away from home by outside in- N WELDERS 134 South Main Brigham City, Utah July 2, 1947. Dear Mr. Editor: This is another attempt to ridicule Brighams position in State Industrial league. To me, the officers of the Brigham in Peaches are their attempt to give Brigham a winning baseball team with outside talent." I firmly believe that if the Brigham boys arent good enough to play in the Industrial league that Brigham should withdraw from said league and get into a league where the local boys can play and win a decent percentage of their games. p This probably looks like a letter from a person who waits until things are going bad and then starts to complain but such is not the case. During the war I was glad to see Brigham bring in hired players as there were practically none of our boys available as most of them were in uniform but now the war is over and all our boys are back and I believe they should be given the opportunity of representing their town on the diamond. Whether they win or lose is not overly important to me. I love baseball and I like baseball players, especially local baseball players. Down through the years ham's American ball teams have with anything in Box Elder high have established o Brig- Legion basebeen on a par the state and school teams a fine reputation for themselves. It just doesnt make sense to me when people show tht they believe those boys lose all their ability as soon as they graduate from high school. I feel that our boys have never developed because they havent been given the incentive to continue to play, and Brigham has allowed their best taiagdaMaaii "Second Working Life' Begins At 45, He Says lVve$tQ f' Millions CLEVELAND (,UP) "two of persons musti expect SITUATION Ewan Ciague, commissioned of U.
