There must have been some powerful Utah and Weber county politicians close to the throne in the good old days when our state constitution was framed But that is beside the point now. The point is that an amendment to the state constitution must be passed by a majority of the voters before the state training school, the state hospital, the miners hospital or any other institutions can be moved to the plant of Bushnell General hospital in Brigham City. To initiate these amendments and get them before the voters in the election this fall, a special session of the state legislature must be called. It was generally conceded, on the basis of grapevine information at that the spethe state capital ist week-en! two-thir- I i ds d, cial session will be called. However, some powerful opposition to the session .now ap- pears. As this is written, the session hasnt been called. It is hoped that by the time you read it, it will have been. Otherwise, Bushnell is likely to stand vacant until 1919. This is a call for quick and vigorous action.. If you can help in any way, do so. After and if the Bushnell question gets on the ballot in this falls election, friends of the ..great institution here will have an- -. .other job to do it will be open us, all of us, to leave no stone unturned to see that the amendment is adopted. Favorable action by the voters of the state appears to be as sure a thing as it is logical. But theres many a slip. But now the issue, the life and future of Bushnell hospital, has been brought dowm to a state level. , Now its where we can understand it. Now the picture is clear, in black and white. And where were some of the best players? In the dugout! Why were they in the dugout? Well, Manager Earl Owen says because every five minutes during every home game this season someone has come into the dugout howlto ing for him to use the give the local players a break. Earl implies hell use the local players until the howlers change their tune, and to heck with the league standing.
