Against the Royals Mark carried the ball 12 times and gained 141 yards, that means everytime Mark ran the ball he picked up 11 yards. Team cant key on Dicker-so- n either or halfback Tom Hilton will have a hay day. Tom proved last week he can catch the ball coming out of the backfield as well as run hard. Davis for a 7:30 p.m. encounter on the Darts field. EVER since Bountiful became a high school one of their biggest rivals has been Davis, and this year the Darts would like nothing better than to down the Braves. Something they havent done in three years. Davis will be extra hungry for a win tonight as they lost their opener to Layton last week. Bountiful had to hang on for their lives in nipping Rov question mark, displayed enormous poise and confidence in his game against 20-1- 3. Roy. Many times with a heavy rush from the line welling stayed in the pocket, and threw the ball. Defensively the coaches were pleased but not impressed. At times it looked like Roy could run or throw anything they wanted, but then at other times the Brave defense got stingy. DEFENSIVE Player of the Week goes to Doug Angus who made 9 unassisted tackles and 1 assisted to rack up 20 defensive points. As Coach Waite put it everytime a tackle was made Angus was in the area. WITH ALL these problems ironed out this past week in practice the Braves will be shooting for their second victory of the season tonight. Coach Waite feels that if they can stop the Darts runners, Bob Payne, Jepp Webster and Kelly Beckstrom then they should win. Defensively the Braves will have to control the line of scrimmage more this week and have their linebackers read their keys and follow their responsibilities if they intend to shut down the Dart ' runners. AS HEAD Coach Monte Jones puts it, today we find out just how good we are. This years edition of Eagles is typical tor them, huge, strong and fast. This will probably be the biggest squad that the Vikes will play all year, traditionally Skyline has a large line and reports are that this year is no ex- ception. VIEWMONT will be counting heavily on their defense this week to stop the Eagles potent running game. Leading the way for the Vikes will be Defensive Player of the Week Kirk Green. Kirk had an outstanding game against East last week and will have to be just as effective this week. It was Kirk that scored the lone touchdown in the win over East. THE VIKES will be without the services of the Offensive Player of the Week as surgery has sidelined Randy Jones for the season. This was not a token award given to Randy by Coach Jones, as the coach noted, Randy ran well, when we needed the tough yards he got the ball. Were going to miss him this year. From his bed at the hospital Randy tells his story of the injury. "I was running a pass pattern and had just ran bye the halfback, the pass wasnt to me but to a receiver in front of me. When they intercepted the ball I began to chase the runner and all I felt was a helmet hitting my knee from behind. WHEN ASKED if it was a clip Randy indicated that it definately was, he added that he knew something had gone the minute he was hrt as he suffered instant pain. Quarterback Kevin Hess, only a junior, really learned a lesson the hard way last week. Hess had four of his passes picked off by East defenders. Once he starts throwing the ball instead of aiming and lobbing the Vikes will have a strong passing attack. ON THE receiving end most of the Vike passes were tightened Tim Eden, who in his own way played exceptional res- be Offensively the Braves showed last week that they can move the ball and score. Eden is the type of The biggest bright spot for the Vikes was the running of Taki Skedros. This senior for some unknown reason has not played football since the ninth grade, but last week you couldnt have guessed it. The durable senior has the strength to run inside along with the speed to get to the outside which makes him a double threat. He clarified tha they dont teach the runners to do it but they seem to do :t out of instinct. The only score came late in the game when linebacker Kirk Green intercepted a pass and scampered 35 yards to paydirt. Moments before the other Viking linebacker Brad Rosser intercepted a pass but was unable to make it into the end zone. AS ONE of put it, VIKING coaches were quite pleased with the efforts of their backs running especially Taiki Skedros and Randy Jones. Skedros, who is playing football for the first time since 9th grade, showed that he hasnt forgotten how to run to daylight. On several occasions the Vike back found the designated hole blocked up so broke to the outside and gained considerable yardage. Jones, a senior, played well until an unfortunate accident sidelined him. Just when everything seemed to be working for him he was clipped and the injury resulted in knee surgery. THE results were a 60 yard touchdown and a 35 yard touchdown. The third and final Brave score came as a result of a diving catch by Doug Angus on the Royal 4 yard line. The next play fullback Mark Dickerson bulled his way into the endzone. The second half turned into a comedy of errors for the Braves as the almost blew a lead. Everytime the 20-- 0 Braves mounted an attack a fumble would stop the drive. BOTH Coach Jones of Viewmont and Coach Waite of Bountiful were pleased with the efforts of their kids, and of course the victories. But both added they have a long way to go. imm V 't 6UI HIGH came into with a reputation of being able to throw the football, but unfortunately for them they dont know how a ROY Fridays game aai kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkitkk Who Fog1 player that you dont notice on the field but after the game you notice him in the stats. at- tempted such a feat and called a sneak, on the play an official called a Viewmont running back for pushing the defense a pass.
