For dough, sift together dry cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk and beaten egg, mixing lightly until combined. Add a little more milk if necessary to make a soft dough.) Pat mixture onto bottom and sides of greased 7 x pan. Arrange apricot1 halves (cut side up) in four rows over dough.
