Andy said it was thrilling to note how quiet all children were during the ceremony. Then all WK of them pledged allegiance to the United States of America, before the beginning of the show. Andy is a bit concerned, somer times, because people aren't as patriotic as they should be when they are privileged to live in America. If people were ijiT concerned about Americanism, he believes, as they are about communism, we wouldnt have to worry about the latter. Last year, he gave each child at his party a miniature American flag, and told them to keep it until this year. It was extremely hard to find a place that sold the tiny flags. Andy said he remembers that, in his younger days, they used to be on all bicycles, on cars, and were a part of every Fourth of July celebration. Anyway, once he had distributed the flags last year, he talked for a few minutes to the children about the flag, and told them to take care of them, and to bring them back this year. He said that over NKf of the children had their flags he had given them last year. The children were then shown a wild west movie, some cartoons, LAYTON, UTAH Anthony Quinn Color by Technicolor Disney Cartoon Festival D 1 Andy. PROCLAIMED HUGE SUCCESS Some little men in stature are indeed very big; some big men are little; but there is a big man who is really BIG living in Layton. It is B. M. Anderson, Uncle Andy to all the Layton small fry; Big Man i Andy to countless friends and business people. Lb.-year, Uncle Andy has a kids party just because he hap. pens to likekuls" and because he likes more than anything else in the world to make people, kids, adults, and old timers, happy. Physically, Uncle Andy is stupendous. He laughs when anyone asks how tall he is, and then passes out a little card which states he is inches tall, five feet, twenty-on- e and weighs a few pounds less than a horse. But there is nothing formidable about this man indeed, his very manner and attitude is one of complete kindliness and understanding. For the past five years, Andy has been giving a party for all the children of Layton. He is only sorry that he can't invite, and have present, all the children of Davis County, or the State or even of the country. No child, however, would ever be turned down by him, no matter what or who he was. The children, this year, as in the past, came in droves. For the past two years, he has incorporated a free show with his party, through ' the cooperation of genial Bill Phelps, manager of the Ritz The- knows atre.
