Little did they realize that the common weeds they brought to class would soon be transformed into beautiful gilded bouquets for the holiday season. Under' the direction of teacher, Mrs. Ruth Rampton, the milkweeds, grass, grain and corn stocks assumed a new beauty in silver and gold and a variety of colors. But the students found the work shop not all play for they soon learned the weeds must be gathered only when they are dry and only the strong sturdy Stems taken so that d stand up under the painting process. Mrs. Rampton pointed out that the students learned where particular weeks grow, the time they are dry and those that would look best after painting. In addition they learned about paints, how to blend colors and how to wield 4 paint brpsh or dip the weeds. Another project in the work shop was the creation of colorful yule logs. Saving the drinking strews from their lunches, the students painted them, added pine cones, some acorns painted red which " oL i:' p machines, the words, Visit State on their Chas. A.
