Is it to be wondered when conditions are sueh that business, in most cases, has been suspended and people are not even able to get their necessary supplies, on account of the deplorable condition of the public highways. Our Weber county friends have provided good gravel roads for their citizens at the minimum to the tax payer, and in many in- stances have hauled the" material several miles. The main obstacle in the buildWEST KAYSVILLE MUTUAL. ing of good roads in this disFollowing is the program to trict heretofore has been the be given by the West Kaysville lack of proper material within M. Why is the material that parallels bur State and County highways not being utilized when it can be purchased at a cost with the amount that has been expended heretofore in an attempt to make good roads! Less than 30c per yard would deliver this material ' from the abandoned right of way of the Oregon Short Line, on the road and put the same in good condition, we use the term good advisedly, as' roads that have been covered with this material are in good condition. If our roads are not covered with some substantial material they will soon work back to their formoj condition, k- - e. if we have to wait for the pavement to come from the south' part of the county. Our road conditions (in view of the above mentioned facts) are making us desperate and we therefore feel that something must be done before the opportunity passes by. If Davis county will not take advantage of this opportunity, to get good road materiaFwhy not give the chance to our Weber county friends. Clearfield Commercial Club. ALBERT T. SMITH, President.
