Suggested by W. R. Butler of Provo, to the Provo Junior Chamber of Commerce, and backed by the Orem Chamber of Commerce, and the Orem Business men, the idea was immediately seized by Sherman Christensen, president of the Junior Chamber, who called in Ross Wight, chairman of the Jaycee Country Relationships committee, and plans were underway for providing the Presidents breakfast table with local strawberries upon the occasion of the Royal visit, June 9. The Orem Chamber of Commerce selected the berries, the Business men of Orem provided a score of cases from which to choose, the Orem Ladies Auxiliary of the Chamber of Commerce, wrapped the selected cases, Mrs. Ada Skinner and Mrs. Etlu I Pyne, doing this artistic work, the Pleasant Grove Chamber furnished their Queen, (Miss Phyllis and Mi's Gillmnn) Pleasant Grove, (Miss Helen Ilcnrichscn) for photos at the Orem berry patch where all the berries were assembled and at the airport in Salt Lake as the berries left on their journey across the continent. The Junior Chamber looked after all details at this end. while Representative J. Will Robinson saw that all details were cared for in Washington, meeting the airplane, taking the berries to the White House, etc. The United Air Lines ca ried the berries free, and all other matters connected were, for the most part, gratuitously done, all for the glory of Utah County's most widely known shades; then the rows and rows of peonies of every kind and shade smiling up at us as though they are trying to tell us something of the great kindness and love that abides in the hearts and souls of those .two who have nurtured them with such tender care. Tucked carefully away among the petals of the lovely roses we take to our friends Is a wee tria sincere bute to their lives message of appreciation for the lessons they have taught so well, just by their examples. If we happen to be a bit sorry for ourselves that our lot in life seems especially hard to bear, or that fate has been unkind to us, we may here be reminded that, "life is what we make it. We find Doctor Cunningham you could smiling and cheerful never guess that years ago health had robbed him of his profesion of dentistry No that is in the past. Now he much prefers to talk of Oras great gift of teaching and her love for children, which has made her life full and complete. Mrs. We find Cunningham cheerful and smiling too the home fairly radiates friendliness and she does not complain that a childhood illness left her lame, or how hard It has been walking with a crutch all her life. But rather she tells hew very grateful she is that she has had the privilege of guiding and directing so many young lives during her 39 years of teaching, and of her deep gratitude for the confidence, appreciation, and love of these young people they all loved and appreciated her because ahe mothered them as she taught them. While their home has not been blessed with their own children and grand children, always there has been the open door inviting the friendship and companionship of her boys and girls of the achoor ro.om, and now, since Ora four retirement Ctyminghams yeara ago, there is often the welcome patter of the tiny footsteps, and the cherished fingerprints, of their babies to dispel the loneliness and to assure them that their unselfish loving and glviug shall live always In their hearts.
