Wieren Practices for Join Permanente tournament Playoff, Hospital Staff The American Legion Baseball team, from the East Carbon area, is practicing each night, preparing for the area play off later this month. A meeting is being held in Price June 15th to fettle the details of the area tournament. The Vvinner of this tournament will represent Carbon County in the .State play ' off at Logan in August. . VAN WIEREN 1 957 Labor Day Celebration Plans Plans for the 1957 Labor Day Celebration is progressing nicely and will soon be in a state of completion according to Adrian Anderson, secretary to the Labor Day Committee. Kaiser Unions No. 9958 and District No. 50 will be in charge of Talent Show for children and adults. Sunnyside is in charge of horseshoe pitching. Dragerton and Columbia are in charge of childrens day sports. Hiawatha and Wal&is are in charge of fireworks. A brilliant display is promised. Castle Gate is in charge of the Saturday night dance. Book Cliff will be in charge of the square dance Saturday and the Pony League ball game. Kenilworth is in charge of the adults all star baseball game." J. A. Dr. Van Wieren served his internship at the Presbyterian Hos Following his pital in internship, he went into specialty training, spending 2 Vz years at the Presbyterian Hospital of Philadelphia and six months at Philadelphia General Hospital. He also served one year as resident at Womens Hospital of Philadeplphia. Lane joined the Dr. Carel-W- . Carbon Medical Service and Utah Permanente Hospital staff on July 3, 1957. He is a native of Boulder, Colorado. Dr. Lane is married and has four children ranging from six months to nine years. Dr. Lane spent two years in the United States Army (1944-194doing chemistry and bacteriology work for the 6th Army area. He entered Bakersfield Junior College after discharge from the Army and is a lifetime member of .the California Junior College Honor Society. He graduated from LaSierra College in 1950 with an A. B. degree ip Physical Chemistry. He spent one year in research in plant physiology at the University of California experiment station at Riverside, California and one yqar at Stanford University in research on oil migration jis a Shell Oil Fellow in fundamental research, aq ajaq iuojj pjojueis 03. Dr. Harvey D. Van Wieren joined the staff July 27, 1957, and at present limits his practice to Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Van Wieren was bom in Holland, Michigan in 1922. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1941 and served on active duty until 1947. During that time he had seen combat duty in the Pacific. Upon completion of his tour of duty with the Marines, Dr. Van Wieren entered Hope College, majored in chemistry and biology, and received an AB degree (cum laude) in 1949. From there he continued his studies at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School and received his degree of M.
