America honors its presidents in many ways, but during the month of February we are reminded of their, lives and of their service to the country as we observe anniversaries of two of our greatest Washington and Lincoln. On February 12 we observe the 148th anniversary of Abraham Lincolns birth, and on February 22nd we observe the 225th anniversary of the birth of the Father of our country George Washington. Hie Post Office Department pays tribute to our Presidents through the issuance, of postage stamps bearing their ' likenesses. For example, on the lc stamp you will find the likeness of Washington, and on the 4c stamp is the likeness of Lincoln. Important historical events are also portrayed on our postage stamps. Next time you buy stamps, study the picture of the men and events represented on them and you will be viewing American history in the u. pam of your hand.
