C.? That is a Question which prior to 1953,. would have been a dobutful answer. Under the conditions" which prevail in the oPst administrations previous to November, 1953, a major attack on Washington would have, been a. disastrous effect on the mails. All maangeemnt and all records were centered there; all major decisiosn wer made there; all top authority fac concentrated in one building at the corner of Twelfth Street and Pnnsylvania Avenue in Washington D. C. Now, no matter what happens in Washington, the machinery in the field and it can operate the service efficiently. Management functions have been dispersed to a widely separated regional and district offices, and our irreplacable records have been completetly dispersed to several strategically-locate- d depositories. Now that Post Office operations have been decentralized the Post Offices of Utah could operate smoothly under the supervision of District Operations Manager George E. Receipts for Dragerton office from Special Program High School Math OOYJti 71SSfe I'fcVE TRAC Science Teachers , The University of Utah, in an effort to bolster the nations supply of qualified scientists, is launching a special program to give additional training to high school science and mathematics teachers. The program, the Academic Year Institute, was made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation. Fifty fellowships are available to teachers in Utah, Idaho, and New Mexico, according to Dr. Thomas J. Parmley, director of the Institute. These are usually generous fellowships and those who obtain one will receive a stipend of $3000, a dependence allowance of $300 per dependent, one years free tuition in the Universitys graduate school, a book allowance of $50 and travel allowance of $160, Dr. Parmley noted.' The ultimate intenj of the program is to motivate an increasing number of young people toward careers in mathmatics and physical and biological sciences. The National Science Foundation has aimed to program at the high school teachers in these fields as the key people in this objective.
