The states chukar partridge program entered its fifth busy sea- son as brood birds were sorted 'into the laying pens last week at the two Department of Fish and Game bird farms. The farms, located at Price and Springville, are holding a total of 3,399 chukars selected for this years brood stock from birds raised at these two facilities last year. 'A breakdown of the total number of birds shows 2,556 hens and 843 cocks. Of these, 1,133 hens and 353 cocks are at Springville. The valance of 1,423 hens and 490 cocks are at the Price farm. The birds have been placed in the laying pens in a ratio of three hens to one cock. Past experience has shown good egg production from this ratio.
