Show Pace 6 Joseph B. 4-- H Leadership School Successful Petty Crash Victim uap . Four-leadership school in East Carbon commenced at 7:00 oclock in the Sunnydale library. There were about fifteen in attendance, which represented leaders from Columbia, Sunnyside, and Dragerton. David Sharp, Jr., conducted community singing to begin the program, and Mrs. Audrey Dunn took charge of the introductions. Mr. Sharp then spoke on the over-a- ll and the picture of role of the leader in club work. The Second Year Foods club, led by Mrs. Lillian Urbank and Mrs. Marion Lund, gave a demonstration on how to organize a club. Audrey Dunn spoke on record books, scrap books, and national contests. Ruth Brasher spoke on community projects, and Robert Hassell gave instructions concerning demonstrations. The time was then turned over to a question period at which time the leaders in attendance brought up problems relating to their vari- Democratic Ladies Hear Program Prominent in the labor relations program at Kaiser Steel since the start of the plant in 1942, Petty was widely recognized in the field of labor relations, and participated in many conferences called by Governor Warren and by other state and local groups. Born April 21, 1914, in Youngs- town, Ohio, Petty received his early education in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended the University of California at Los Angeles from 1935 to 1938 and then the University of California at Berkley from to 1942, majoring in the fields of political science and production control. From 1946 to 1949 he studies law under the plan of the La Salle Extension University. He first became associated with the steel industry working for four years, 1933 to 1937, at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company, Youngstown, Ohio. From 1939 to 1940 he was personnel supervisor of the Federal Security Administration, Los Angeles. From 1940 to 194 he was supervisor of labor for the Syndicate Contractors at the Pacific Naval Air Base, Alameda, California. ' He is survived by his widow, Olive B. Petty, and four children, Jocelyn, Melinda, Ethelyn, and Joan, of San Bernadino. Funeral arrangements have not yet been 1941 4-- H 4-- H 4-- H ous clubs.
