Va., with talks on reorganization of state governments and water power Communist issue dominated conversation outside the meeting hall. Governors James development. The Duff of Pennsylvania and Earl Warren of California, two Republicans among the more than 43 governors attending the conference, voiced blunt disapproval of what they termed the blanket accusation of Senator McCarthy of Wisconsin. Among outstanding speakers the governors heard Secretary of State Dean Acheson who submitted to a barrage of questions in reply to which he stoutly defended the state department as an honest, loyal, clean outfit. Mrs. Betty Cohn, 60, Americas swimming grandma, expects to swim the English Channel this summer. Here she is shown taking time off from strenuous training to take her two grandchildren swimming at the Palisades Park pool. The grandchildren are Michael, 6, and Zena, 3. Mrs. Cohn says she looks at the Channel attempt as just another swim. For a tune-u- p she swam from Palisades Park to the Statue of Liberty, a distance of 10 miles. Channel swimming will reach a new high this summer Besides the swimming grandma, Russell Tougay of Miami will CITIZENSHIP REVOKED . . . Barry Bridges, (right) controversial west coast labor leader, has bad his U. S. citizenship revoked by San Francisco federal Judge George B. Barris. The order was based on the perjury conviction of the Australian born CIO longshoreman union leader. Bridges Is being interviewed by reporter upon his arrival in Chicago.
