In that same year Kaiser came in and took over the operation of the No. 2 mine that had been closed. Since that time the production has been increased from nothing to a new"" record set last week of 3820- tons in one working day. The town of Sunnydale has been built. A total of 240 homes was erected for the" , Winers. An additional 60 were erected for the Kaiser-FrazParts company which are now being occupied nyside in 1942 were rehabilitated. Both No. 1 and No. 2 mines which were purchased outright by Kaiser in April, 1950, are now in full operation. The old Sunnyside coke ovens are in full operation which the exception of those that are not usuable. The immediate future of the two mines looks very bright. Fontana has been operating at ca - er pacity output. Other sales of local coal has been heavy and present prospects are that they will remain heavy. The Korean situation with an increase in our military needs means that a greater demand will be placed on steel output throughout the country. Ouput for the entire steel industry has been near capacity for the past year. More steel means more coking coal. Kaiser in Sunnyside has meant a population increase of over 1500 people. At present the entire Sunnyside area which is Kaiser owned has a population of 2000 people. After a bleak twelve months during which labor management problems on many industrial fronts hurt the local labor situation the outlook for the following twelve months appears very bright.
