D., DOUBLE The continuance of cash awards to schools reporting the best at tendance during each period was announced by the Carbon county board of education this week. The plan, in effect last year for the first time, proved a very successful inducement for better school attendance. Not only does it result m better attendance but it also brings a greater amount of money to the district inasmuch as funds from the uniform local school fund from the state is apportioned on an average attendance per day basis. The district awards the prizes $15, $10 and $5 for the first three highest in attendance among the grade schools and $15 and $5 for the first two highest among the junior high schools. Last year the Dragerton junior high school, Columbia and Scofield each won the first place award for two periods; Helper junior high. Standard-vill- e and Gordon Creek each wm first place once; Clear Creek won second place twice as did the Carbon senior high school before it dropped from the contest Scofield also won a third place twice. Castle Gate won a second and third place and Spring Canyon won a second place. Rains won a third place and the Price junior high won a second place.
