Price, Utah PRICE, UTAH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. LEWIS State supervisors of agriculture from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming met in Denver this month with Veterans Administration officials to discuss the joint federal - state Institutional training program for World War II veterans. Main topics of discussion were length of training periods and uniform methods of computing farm income and exemptions. Farm training courses, it was generally agreed, should extend over a period of from two to four years, depending on the experience and training of the veteran prior to his entrance into the program, and the size and scope of his farm operations. It W3S felt that each case should be handled on an individual basis according to the needs of the veteran. Under the farm training program, the state provides instruction in the classroom for the and assigns instructors for actual training. VA provides tuition, allowsupplies and subsistence ances and supervises the veterans progress in the program. Each veteran must either own or have control of the farm which he operates during training, and the farm must be large enough .o occupy his full time. In exceptional instances, employer-trainsituations are permitted. Trainees must receive at least 200 hours .f group instruction and a minimum of 50 hours of individual instruction per year, together with work experience and training on farm. More than 5,600 veterans in the foltr states are now engaged in instituitonal training 1,867 in Colorado, 1,716 in New Mexico, 1,557 in Utah and 460 in on-far- student-vetera- ns on-far- on-fa- rm er SUNDAY shown a steady growth, he said, in spite of a shortage of qualified instructors.
