Struggling to gain conciousness, I fought to climb out of bed, but a force pulled me back into the coziness of the sheets. Not necessarily. Books have been written and movies produced on the theme of stern parents selecting their childrens life work and thus destroying their lives. Its pretty well established that the youngster should have a lot to say about what he or she will do after flying away from the nest. But look at the case of Lisa. She decided at about age 13 that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Terrific! chorused her mom and dad. They bought her delightful books on the veterinarians life, such as All Creatures Great and Small. Those zealous parents arranged for their daughter to spend a day working as a non-pai- d assistant to a veterinarian. They urged Lisa to write a young lady from Utah who had just enrolled in veternary school. They corresponded. The parents glowed when Lisa started a bank account, saving her baby-sittin- g money to set up her office-animhospital when she received her degree in al veterinary medicine someday. She wrote themes for English classes on the care of ill and injured animals. The zoo was one of her very favorite places, and no dog she saw-- no matter how homely-escapp- ed or scraggly her loving attention. Lisas goal was her parents goal and they gloried in thinking of how happy their daughter would be. And how smart she was to choose her career so early in life. It iwas all a beautiful dream,.
