Show I (Washington Open Letter on Air Quality Districts Proposed for Area ountyNows St. George, Utah 84770 Thursday, January 27, 1977 EDITORIAL Chamber Serves Community Well! An areas Chamber of Commerce and its accomplishments is often the criteria by which one can determine whether or not an areas business economy is good, bad or indifferent. Saturday evenings annual Installation Banquet of the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce was proof enough that this is a growing, active community with energetic participation by those who are concerned with its growth. Over 400 citizens attended the dinner, witnessed the presentation of awards, installation of officers and heard noted TV weatherman Bob Welti expound his views. We applaud the selection committees choice of annual awards which were presented to Juio Paolasso, Distinguished Sr. Citizen; Anna B. Taylor, Distinguished Sr. Dick Citizen Woman; E. N. Sr. Hammer, Distinguished Doug McKnight, Businessman; Distinguished Jr. Businessman; Fay Picklesimer, Outstanding Educator; Truman Bowler, Outstanding Public Service, and a Posthumous Award to J. C. Snow for his business, civic and church leadership to the community. A list of each recipients accomplishments belied the fact that all have devoted a great deal of time and effort toward making St. George and Washington County a progressive, modern society which takes a back seat to no one in the many fields of civic endeavor. We can appreciate the unsung persons behind the production of such an affair, both in the banquet arrangements and producing the drive which which assembled so many persons for the function. We would like to recognize P. Richard Dehlin, Banquet Chairman, and his able committee. Along the line of taking a back seat to no one in making the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce the force that it is today is the congenial Executive Secretary Art Anderson. His drive, ambition and incentive was and is recognized in helping carry forward the aims and goals of the businessmans organization. We urge the support of this fine Chamber of Commerce. It is the time of year when the membership drive is underway and funds are sorely needed to provide the material and personnel used to present our area in the attractive atmosphere that it deserves. care needs served by a single metropolitan area. long-rang- v per-son- six-sta- te - .It cost-efficie- 100-15- Fixed-win- used by medical transport teams out of Salt Lake City are fully equipped with supplies and life support systems found in most intensive care units at larger hospitals. From a few things I have observed lately, I can understand why this may be partially true. I recently took someone up on the Red Hill to show them the view and let them read the sign there that pays tribute to the early day settlers of Dixie. We noticed that a portion of the top of the sign had been ripped loose from its posts and thrown down over the edge of the sandstone cliffs onto the rocks below. I retreived it and securely nailed it back in place. An even sadder and more repugnant sight was the trash barrel placed at this location. It appeared as though it had flowing with the excess garbage scattered loosely around, a very unsightly and disparaging mess! Another trash barrel about a Yiile to the east, near the water tank, was even in a d sorrier state of by the ugliest of affairs-accentuate- MaReeHunt DEADLINES: Monday 5:00 p.m.: Social News and School News.
