Roberts Sports Editor le Buff Track T earns Gamer Impressive Wins Over Jordan The weather wasnt perfect but the performances of the Tooele boy and girl track teams were nearly as perfect as the girls slapped a pasting on the Beetdiggers and the boys were even more impressive smothering Jordan The girls got a triple win from Sheila Price who won the 100 yard high hurdles, the 300 intermediate hurdles and the long jump plus a double win from Joy Bradford, winner of both the javelin and discus ?4r 91-4- 0 102-3- .155$ .. '3 i 1,-t y j, -- More Investigation Before BuffBB Coach Is Selected The committee which will select Tooeles new basketball coach has reduced the number of applicants down to four people from the original ten that applied for the job. All applicants have been interviewed but because of the closeness of the qualifications, the committee will require more investigation before the final selection is made. According to a member of the committee the selection will be made next week. events. In the boys competition Tooeles the strongest events, outscoring Jordan were the 110 meter high hurdles, the 1600 meter run, the 300 meter intermediate hurdles, the 200 meter run, the run, the javelin, the long jump and the discus throw. In the high hurdles, it was Jeff Smart and Vaughn Staheli, first and second, in the 1600 meterd run it was Brian Miller and Pat Garcia Staheli and Smart finished in one two in the intermediate hurdles with Sagers and Chris Zeller, Gar cia and Miller in the two mile run, Thom Gourdin and Greg Smith in the javelin, Jared Bunn and Scott Benton in the long jump and Mike Warr and Gourdin finishing in the discus throw. She says she would like to go to college on an athletic scholarship. She idolizes Lynette Petersen who is ranked No. 1 in the Intermountain area in the 1 division. Some day she would like to run a marathon. Tina and her father run about five miles each day. Last summer Mrs. Thomas would drop the pair off one-hal- f mile up South Willow Canyon and they would jog to their home on the east side of Grantsville. "Sometimes when we are running down the canyon Tina will get a side ache and I will suggest we stop and walk for awhile but Tina will say she doesnt want to stop," said Mr. Thomas. "Her stride is beautiful," commented one unner at a recent race. So is her determination. 1 Buff Tennis Team Cements Hold O11 Second Place The Tooele tennis team took a solid grip on second place in the 34 SO.
