She finished first in every dual meet and easily outstretched the Region Six field to win the regional title, and now caps this years efforts by bagging a state championship. Lisa is one reason for the increased interest and participation in cross country running. Cross country has gained rapid growth the past couple of years and based on this years participation at the state meet, it is due for even more growth. Tooele, Grantsville and Dugway entered full boys teams Wednesday, with Tooele and Dugway also entering complete girls teams, with Grantsville entering just two girls. Pokes Impressive In the girls competition for Grantsville, it was freshman Jill Anderson displaying exceptional ability and promsie of much better things to come as she finished sixth in the combined girls events. Miss Andersons time was Laurie Staheli, 23:27. Other Tooele runners who competed were Misty Hitesman and Melonie Lowry. The Buffs young boys team which finished 11th in the team standings was led by junior Brian Miller, 40th, 17:23. Following Miller was sophomore Kelly Hancock, 45th, 17:31; and juniors Gary Burgoyne, 64th, 18:10; Scott Fudge, 65th, 18:12; and Vaughn Staheli, 66th, 18:15. Other runners for Tooele were Chad Broadhead and Bryce Bradfield. The meet, run over the tough Sugarhouse Park course was held in perfect weather conditions and was witnessed by a good-sizecrowd of cheering spectators. d Bantam League Team standings: Strikers IA-2- Bionic Bowlers Screwballs 20:21. Another Grantsville freshman Erika Seaquist also competed in the big meet, giving Grantsville a solid foundtion on which to build its girls cross country program. In the boys competition for Grantsville, it was Lance Gurney leading the way for the Cowboys finishing in 27th place with the time of 18:07. Also competing for Grantsville were David Butler, Randy Lawrence, Brian Johnson, Stacey Brothers, Mike Browniang and Trevor Anderson.
