Show School District Adopts Title IX RecommeiadatioEs On November 12, 1982 the Denver Office of Civil Rights informed Tooele School District that a compliance review of Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 would be conduct that date the Denver office has conducted two on site visits to the district four high schools. From their initial visit a preliminary report (39 pages in length) of their findings was issued ed. Since and was used as the basis for the central the high schools to work towards in reaching a settlement with office and O.C.R. On May 26th a response was drafted and sent to O.C.R. with the intended direction the district was pursuing. The main items addressed were: lojioes art our business. 1. Provision of Equipment and Sup- plies; 2. Scheduling of Games and Practice Times; 3. Travel and Per Diem; 4. Provision of Locker Rooms, Practice and Competitive Facilities. 7. Provision of Medical and Training Facilities and Service; 8. Publicity; 9. Provision of Support Services. In order to meet the needs of O.C.R. the most important items were use of facilities, an athletic survey, and a change in coaches pay. Stansbury Begins Pilot Program The piloting of the State Productivity Model at Stansbury Park Elementary this year will create some changes from past years. Students have been assigned to Learning Communities, more adults wil be available in the classroom to help the students and computers will be used to assist in the instructional process. These items will be discussed and questions will be answerd at a "Back To School Night to be held August 31, 1983 at 7:00 p.m. in the school. At this time you will be able to meet with your childrens teachers and they will explain the educational program they have outlined for your children. The teachers will also be in the school beginning the 18th of August and you are welcome to come to the school and talk with them if you have questions. The teachers have worked hard during the summer to make this year a success and we look forward to working with the students of Stansbury Park Elementary and their parents this year. Dugway Welcomes 300 Students Dugway Elementary School enrollment of 300 students has with an a teach- ing staff of twelve teachers, seven of which are returning for the 1983-8school year. Four of the teachers are new to the district and one is a transfer from the high school.. The school initiated a discipline program last year based on Lee Canters "Assertive Discipline. The new teachers are: Mrs. Paolati, resource teacher; Mrs. Kim Stewart, second and third grade combined; Mrs. Kathy Brandt, third grade; and Miss Kathy Smith, fifth grade.
