They are also ideal for families with working parents who cant be with a pet as much as theyd like. According to pet author and columnist Patricia Curtis; "It might seem that two cats would be twice as much trouble as one. But in many ways, they are less trouble." "For one thing, if you have at least two, you have greater freedom to be away from home. .The knowledge that there are two to keep each other company and play with each other can be a relief. Theres no need to stick to the same type of pet, either. "Believe it or not, a dog and a cat are often closer companions than two dogs, or a pair of cats," says Roger Caras, author, naturalist and special correspondent, ABC News. Her business has since expanded to 30 carefully selected pet sitters, and she has opened Pet Vacations affiliates in cities across the country. Fuel Seeks Hike , Monthly price increased imposed on Mountain Fuel Supply Companys distribution division by gas producers and suppliers, which have not been reflected in current gas rates, required the company today to file a $34.5 million gas cost increase request before the Utah Public Service Commission. "The company purchased about 70 percent of its gas from outside suppliers, and the cost of gas from these sources has increased since the last gas cost increase filing, said D. N. Rose, president of Mountain Fuels distribution division. We have no alternative but to pay these higher costs in order to ensure adequate suplles for our customers, he said. Rose said the gas cost increases differ from general rate Increases in that all the money collected by the company from customers goes directly to pay the suppliers who sell gas to v Mountain Fuel gets 32 percent of the gas it sells form its own production wells, and this gas comes to the Rose company at cost of service, said. "That price is lower than prices currently being charged by producers In accordance with the Natural Gas Policy Act (NGPA) of 1978. That legisation was passed by the U.S. Congress to extend federal control over gas prices through 1985. "If all of our gas came from field producers and pipeline companies, our rates would be significantly higher. They continue to be among the lowest in the nation because of the cost of service gas that comes from our own production," he said. Todays gas cost adjustment case, representing an 8.5 percent increase, would Increase the typical Utah residential customers bill by $45.84 a year, or an average of $3.82 a month. Mountain Fuel. i |
