February 25, I9S2 13 FFA Week Celebrated The CrariUville chapter observed FFA W eek this year with a variety of program and activities designed to promote patriotism and the Future Fanners of Aim rica. The activities began with three contests: arm wrestling, com kernel guessing, and a cow weight guessing contest. In the ami wrestling contest, the w inners were: Terry Ditkman in the lightllis, to 130 weight group, John Hons (1 llis.), Ceorge Parkinson (HI to 150 lb.), Mike Itandall (151 to 170 llis.) and Hrian 1 1 Celrimaiher, heavyweight. In the girls division the winners were: Starla Millward, lightweight: Honda Andeison (111 to 130 III.) and (.'hristine Francom (over 130). The kernel contest was won by Colleen I a nnliard who guessed 2.550 kernels in the jar which contained 2,555 kernels. S leeches were given by James Chrislen-ey n and Colonel Karruth. Wednesday's assembly featured the Crantsville FFA color guard and a sjieevh by Travis McCluskey. Awards were presented for sjieech and Mrster contests. Tlmivlay's assembly was highlighted by a speech by lisa Taylor and the Captain David Htiell was the HYl'-HOT- S)eaker. Chapter held a Sweetheart contest during F.F.A. Week. and The judges were from they judged the girls on their poise, lieauty and personality. The contest consisted of the girls modeling street wear, formal wear and they were each asked some questions. There was also a tea held where refreshments were served. The Crantsville Swectherat of 1981-8- 2 is Trixi Phillips, the daughter of Jackie and the late Jeffrey Phillips. She is a senior at Crantsville High and very involved. Her attendants are 1st - Rebecca Warner, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Warner; 2nd attendant, Sharon Nunley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Nunley. We congratulate them very much for their performance. The Sweetheart will represent us in the State Sweetheart contest to lie held in FFA Sweetheart and attendants: (1 tor), Becky Warner, conjunction with the State F.F.A. Convention to be held in March.
